HOT ROD magazine

I think this belongs in photos and media. if not, move it.

This was in the annual article about the HOT ROD PowerTour in the October issue. There was also a pic of the cavalier too. Is this guy on the org?

Quote:

GM keeps telling us that the Echotech four-cylinder is the small-block Chevy of the future, but no one on PowTour really bought it until they watched Ryne Hoover's little '04 cavalier blow off a GS 455 Buick-- Admittedly a pathetic GS455-- with a 13.63 at 101 mph. All it takes is a Hahn Racecraft Stage II turbo. Learn more about these cars at www.j-body.org

anyways... pretty awesome getting respect for the jbodys in hotrod, and some advertisement for the org.

For some reason, i think Hypsy is going to get trashed on here pretty soon.

He doesn't act like an @!#$ on here but he was a prick at last year's bash. Sweet find though

that is indeed me. I did the long haul and was one of 2 4cyls on this years power tour. the other was a stock lancer.

they put me in cause i ran 8 straight 13 second passes and beat 8 different V8s. the biggest of them was the 455 in that buick they mentioned. I was waiting till i could scan the image in to make a post but its all good since someone pointed it out.

i tried to get the guy to mention the .org and i guess he did. thats uber cool of him.

Thank you Mr. Frieburger is you happen to read this.

I get so tired of disputing this with people, that I just don't even bother correcting anyone anymore. I mean, for the love of God, it is simple english.

oh well, way to go hyspy i guess

Ecotec is not english. Arguably is a word made up by engineers or marketing at GM. It's fairly obvious is a composite of the contractions "eco" and "tech." Whether "eco" comes from "economy" or "ecology" is unknown to me. The "mispronounciation" comes from the accepted pronounciations of "ecology" being both "eeko" and "echo." Thus, if Ecotec is a composite of the contracted form of "ecology" and "technology," both "eeko-tech" and "echo-tech" would be acceptable pronounciations.

j-body.org in a magazine is cool either way

Good Job eeko or echo ryan or ryne either way you did a damn good job and represented the eco lol

Re: HOT ROD magazine

I say Eeeekkkoo too... but everytime you want a show like Street Tuner Challenge, and the actual GM performance guys taking it apart and building it call it Echo tec.. and since then everytime I hear it it is pronounced that way.. so thats where I assume his assumption of the name came from.

I dont care either way I will call it Eeeko everytime, because thats what ive always done, just saying it is said both ways.. more often Echo by GM performance parts guys

Great job, Ryne! A man after my own heart, hurtin on V-8s. It's my favorite pastime at the local track! But I'm a V-8 fan too, mostly boosted ones

I'd have to say 'echo-tech' is the preferred pronunciation from what the GM folks say.

And its a ga-Trag trans, not a Get-rag!
