Nighty Night...... Last pics for the year.
Monday, September 05, 2005 4:09 PM
I have to take the cavalier early off the road because i cannot afford to have 2 cars on the road at this time. So i took the cavalier off the road today and winterized her.

-washed
-waxed
-Fresh Oil
-Fuel stabilizer
-full tank of gas
-Vapor sheild on the floor.
- Only thing left i need to do is hit the cylanders with with WD-40 or oil and take the battery out and trickle charge it.

...onto the pics.

Both my cars....

Yes i know my wheels need some Wet shine, but not when i am putting them away for winter and will just be dust magnets. Its going to be very dusty in there this winter.

Nighty night......

...Major changes to come this winter, and hopefully i can get her back on the road either next summer, or the one after. Depending on the funds....

What do you think its doing in my garage? Thats what its going to become, but a show car cannot be a rust bucket, so why drive it in the winter and make it become one? Just because its dosn't have a body kit on it automatically makes it a stock 4 door?.... mmmm kay....... look in the profile, definetley not stock.

umm yea its pretty much stock lol...no offense, but with those mod, its still stock, you have a bunch of bolt on mods most of which you can get at local stores...i still see no reason you would put that in the garage an not the pt cruiser...

I understand the whole storage deal but isn't it a little early to be needing to put it into storage. I mean there won't be salt on the roads for at least a month and a half yet. But I suppose if it's not going to be driven anytime soon might as well get her put away.

Nighty night.

Nothing wrong with wanting to keep your car nice. I store my ride in the winter too.

ok, lemme say this one more time.

I was giving the PT crusier by my grandparents for an early college present. It was a southern car and never seen a winter. The car is a limited edition with 22K miles on it and has nothing wrong with it. The cavalier on the other hand needs new brakes and other stuff to pass inspection next month. Yes there is also some rust underneath the cavalier, but the body on the car is flawless with no rust. The 99 cavalier has 58,989 miles on it which is like nothing. I've always wanted to put a body kit on it and have at it, but with not having a winter ratt i wasn't allowed to do such. Now that i have another car, i can do as i please. Reason why its in storage now, i can't afford 2,200 bucks a year for having 2 cars on the road when i am only 19. Now that its in my garage i can put my body kit on it this winter and have at it.

the reason he is storing it is because he just got the new pt cruiser and cannot afford insurance on both cars..therefore he is putting the sedan away and driving the pt cruiser... i dont see anything wrong with that except for the fact that i hate pt cruisers

yup gonna put mine away too...i see nothing wrong with it...

you cant make a project car unless you start somewhere...and he is off to a good start...

if he has the means to do it...he should do it...and he does...and he will...

so thats that!

Wow, guys. He said he doesn't feel like paying insurance (and probably gas) for 2 cars, so he's putting the Cavalier away for the winter and ripping it all apart to do the body kit and maybe even his nitrous.

Mine was probably too "stock" for storage last winter, too--but look what happened. And this winter it goes into storage again for the GTP transplant. That's when changes happen, so give'em time.

Condensation build up inside the tank from the temp fluctuation so much up and down. If you keep the tank full, you don't have to worry so much about condensation forming. I'm sure you have seen what happens when you have a piece of metal that is cold go from really cold to a warm, all the condensation that forms?.... Same concept for those weird january thaw days where the temp gets really warm out of nowhere. Thats also why you need to put fuel stabilizer in it, many contain an additive like drygas in it.

Thanks chris, you know what my plans are and how my situation is. Cleaning the car today i found some nice overspray primer for when it was in the body shop getting some things touched up. Grrrr...... @!#$ em', i'll deal with someone else when i get the body kit painted.

mine will be put away soon as well. i'm glad i don't have to drive it this winter.

i understand the reasoning behind storing it for the winter. in addition to the insurance... for those who ask why store it? would you want somebody hitting the brakes in the snow only to find themselves sliding through a stop sign and taking out your j? it's not a matter of what is or isn't done to the car... it's a matter of what the car means to the owner.

can't wait to see what's in store for it cody.
