-chipped
-aem cold air intake
- and 19psi of boost from what he/his buddys said.. He was a good guy and seemed to know a lot about cars but i would have to say 10-12psi max (not sure what stock psi is though)

my specs at the time
- GM s/c
- 2.7" pulley
- 4-2-1 header
- 2.5" header back exhaust
- custom intake

Thank you
yea i thought i was going to get destroyed.... from a roll though i pulled on him at the end every time... and from a stop we would be about even after a 1/4 but he would pull on me over time... so i would say our cars would be about even. Him and his buddy told me they were running 19psi at the time too but (he does have a boost gauge too) but i would say realistically about 12psi max for him.

ok and i guess stock GTI's run like 12psi of boost so he had to have been up around 15-16psi then..

good kill.. id believe if the psi was that high.. the STOCK 1.8T turbo doesnt make that much power.. so like 18-20psi is a lil over 200whp. plus the GTI is kinda heavy for its size.

but good kill none the less. congrats. your car looks sweet too.

ahahah nice picture... as for weight i think the gti was still lighter then me.. as i had about 3/4-full tank of gas and 2 people in the car so i was around 2900lbs.. i dont think the gti is that heavy.

all the gti has is a chip?

cuz my friends '03 gti with diverter valve, 3" exhaust, chip (boosts 16-20lbs), intake, turbo timer runs 13s

gtis with a chip are very mean...

but that sunfire is sick as hell

Sweet car...how many lbs of boost are you running and what are your times? Im looking into a S/C in the next couple years.

Yea thats why i thought i was going to get killed.. but in Saskatoon i was running about 7-8psi of boost some nights with the 2.7" pulley i had on (not sure what psi i got when i raced him, i didn't look)

ZeeTwankyFo wrote:Sweet car...how many lbs of boost are you running and what are your times? Im looking into a S/C in the next couple years.

Boost with this supercharger all depends on the altitude and weather out (temp and pressure) some nights in Saskatoon (i was in Saskatoon in the video) i got to 8psi of boost on the 2.7" pulley but others i only got about 7psi.....but here in Calgary Alberta we are sooooo high up i only get about 6psi and some times i get 6.5psi... but with my alcohol injection kit and the 2.6" pulley i have i hope to see 10psi of boost...

This is all different for people lower to sea level though... and i am not sure what kinds of 1/4mile times it does as i haven't even taken it to a track yet ... hopefully i will get to on the 17th/18th and i will let you know... But i highly recommend getting this s/c'er... People will say "oh go turbo, makes more power" which is totally true, but when a lot of people are hitting 10psi with the GM s/c and most people only run about 7-10psi on a turbo i don't know why they think there is a big difference.. and my buddy who has a turbo on his 2.4L makes the same power as me at 6psi of boost (well with in like 5hp) so its not like the gm s/c'er takes a lot of power to run like most people think.

Nice car man, very tastefully done to say the least. That is getting more and more rare these days.

Body kit fits the style of the car very well, probably one of the best kits I've ever seen for a Sunfire.

Glad to see you didn't paint the interior. No matter how good people think it will come out, it just never looks very good, due to the nature of our cheap plastic interiors

Overall it looks great, nice work.

There's a Gti around here I test all my mods on, he's clearly faster than me but I keep up to him well. I was gunna make a post and ask what do stock ones run but this post has a good bit of info in it for me. His Gti is stock besides a better tune which the shop around here that did the work said is as good, if not better than a chip.

nice fire I like it. As for the GTI, with a chip they can pull 19-21 psi easy. Still does not make them that fast, unless they have other supporting mods. A fellow J owner had a GTI with a chip, intake, and stock eaxhust. he would get 21psi. I raced him from a stop in my N/A J and he could not catch me until 70-75mph..

Well I'll take it upon myself as a veedubber to step in and clarify some things.

First of all, with two people in the car and 3/4 tank of gas, you were probably still lighter than the GTI. VW's from about 93-up have been absolute porkers. My car, even with how tiny it is, tips the scales at 2900 lbs even, with the rear seats, pass seat (and my seats are actually heavy, unlike the 5 lb. j-body seats), spare, and rear carpeting removed, and a 1/4 tank of gas.

Chipped cars, depending on the brand of chip will run 16-22 psi of boost, but the boost only plays a portion of the role in making power. Ignition timing is the key to unlocking the get-up-and-go in a 1.8T. And not all chips are made equal, for instance, Neuspeed is barely faster than stock, whereas GIAC X+ or REVO Stage 2 are at the top of the ladder. Here's the kicker: the K03 turbo that comes stock on the 1.8T is tiny. The inlet is less than 2 inches in diameter, and the whole compressor housing is smaller in circumference than a 2 liter bottle of pepsi. Thus, its more than maxxed out at chipped boost levels. In fact, boost will drop after 5000 rpm, eventually fading to 10 psi MAX at redline. Our strength is in torque, which we have gobs of. Often more than 250 ft-lbs at 3200 rpm. Top end...... not so much.

I'm not really surprised that your beat him from a roll, thats not the 1.8T's strong point. The other thing is that a lot of 1.8T owners aren't aware that the valvetrain is safe enough to rev past redline. I shift at 7000 rpm to make the most use of my gearing. A lot of people are too afraid to do this, and it results in being a little slower, sinc ethe 7000 rpm shift point drops the revs right into the sweet spot.

Anyway, very nice car dude, get to the track and get some times! I hope you've all enjoyed your Dub-ucation for the day...

holy @!#$.. mine base cavi weighs 2600lbs without me and a 1/4 tank.. how the hell is that thing so heavy??

Thank you, i thought they were light cars.. they do have alot of torque i know but after we went and raced him again and i got a better launch and he could not catch up to me at all but i do not know what my hp or tq numbers are... he also said in saskatoon he runs a 14.3 in the 1/4mile.....
