Tonneau cover modeled and primered
Wednesday, August 24, 2005 6:23 PM
Got a little bit closer to making a good part. Got the model just about done, still some tweaking to do but the idea is taking shape now. After I get this where I want it I'll make a temporary mold so I can lay up a couple of good parts to work with...

Anything you see I need to change before I proceed???

Looks very nice! The only thing I would work on is make is meet the edge of the rear door panel (see pic)
Great job! Very original!

It looks great. I'd have to see it in person to make comments but so far so good. If you're ever coming through the OKC area let me know so I can see it in person. From the pics it needs to be raised up in the back so it covers the seatbelts and the carpet. And like mentioned, have the sides flow into the panel or at least have a smoother transition.

Man, your car was mint before, but now it's SUPER MINT!!! Or maybe peppermint?

Looks sweet man!!!

Did you fab that so that you can raise/lower the top without taking it out? That's what it looks like to me, just curious.

Thanks everyone...

Sorry I didn't back on here earlier but right as I was posting this the Tornado Sirens started going off and we were having 70-75mph straight winds and stuff so I figured I'd better get home and ride it out where there was a basement just in case it got worse.

Lets see if I can answer a few things.

I was seriously thinking about cutting that area off and making a 1" flange down all the way around the edges just to give it a cleaner more finished look.

The plan was to paint it body color to match the car BUT after looking at the pic's Karo posted I might have to rethink it... AGAIN

I'm pretty sure I know what your talking about but if I do that then getting the top boot on and off won't work. If you want to shop a pic or two feel free...

The plan is to remove the rear seat and belts and fiberglass the rear seat area for subs and nitrous bottle and upholster it to match the interior AND incorporate a new center piece for the convertible boot .

Thanks for the pic's Karo...

I think the quality is absolutely amazing. Your work looks great.

I just think that it should cover the top, and back seat and everything... I know its not really possible..but it should flow into the body like a 2 seater would.

I think it looks great in the interior color that Karo posted. It flows really well with the Interior. If you paint it exterior color, it sticks out too much in my opinion.

But it looks super great overall.
