ok well i started to do some custom work on my door panels i bought 2 sets of audio bahn component speakers
got them at a good price and desided to make somthing that will show them off instead of just putting them
behind the door panels well here are some pics enjoy:
the start: molded the plastic peice around the handle in to there is no crack also the carpet is taken out already and
fiberglass over for a clean look
the first set: a ring was cut out of wood and a couple blocks were put under it to get the angle i wanted for the fist set
and then tape was added around it to get the curves i wanted with the fiberglass
the second ring was added and tape filled the rest up to make it all smooth, the angle came out pretty good i think should look goo when in the car.
the speakers were set in just to make sure they look good on the angles and i was happy with it so i didnt desid to change it, took down all the measurment that i will need to replicate for the other door panel when i start that...
well thats all the pic i have now i will have some more of the fiberglassing finished and ready to be painted
it wasnt to hard to do its just time consuming to try and get them the way it look good

hey man looks good like the concept! only thing is......... fiberglass wont stick to tape.... so hopefuly u didnt do it yet. it sticks but the fiberglass does not get hard, also..... to get the shape u stretch fabric to get the shape not tape!. Fabric u can pull any way you want and get different designs and looks. I usualy use fleece from jo-ann fabrics or walgreens it stretches real easy so their is no wrinkles, and the fiberglass hardens good!. Walgreens has fleece blankets that they sell for like 2 for $6, and each blanket is like 5' long, so thats usualy the cheaper route. Hopefuly that will help keep me updated!

yes i know i am just making a mold of it and then taking it off the door panel and taking all the tape off it, a buddy wants a set as well so this will save me some time while i make 2 at once, then i will use some kind of adhesive to stick it to the door panels then mold it on..
but thanks for the help, i plan to do my entire rear seat with subs and stuff also my trunk the way you described...
thanks for the coment guys

now I'm no audio expert but isn't it gonna hurt the sound having the speakers inverted? I've seen subs mounted liek that but never interiors
looks good so far, but will the door shut now? might be too far outwards?

yup it will close just fine i placed it in the car and temp securd it
if u look at the top corner is where the tape end thats where the dash is when you close the door thats all that really matters
the speakers being inverted might not sound as good but i am doin it for show i will have another set of speakers in the dash when i do the dash the will be normal and hopfully it will make good sound. plus the audio bahns look sweet being inverted like that i couldnt resiste putting them like that

You might wanna try test fitting them on the PASSENGER side if you havent already. The dash is lower on that side, but it looks like it should fit fine.
Interesting idea, lol obviously not practical at all
Those are not going to make music, only noise. If your going for show, just make your door panels nicer. Do somethin crazy, why spend money on speakers that are not goign to do their job? If only looks, why even hook them up?
good question, but the idea looks good so far
hmmmm.... I am confused, and the Blonde genius that is me,
does not easily get confused
looking good. i like the looks of a molded armrest. keep it up man\

Check out my CARDOMAIN page
if you want inverted why not one and not the other i think it would look better plus you wouldn't waste as much money on speakers
wow how ya gonna have room to scratch your nuts?
Ryan
