I bought a maching polisher/waxer/buffer whatevcer you want to call it, low speed (2600 rpm max) random orbital 10 inch, so I tried it out. As always this is using Mothers

very very happy with the results and kicking myself for not trying it earlier

Last but not least painted brakes....

high temp flat black

What did you use on the carbon fiber? My hood looks like crap right now and can't seem to bring back that new look...what did you use!

Can you give us a run down of the process as well as where you got the buffer, etc?

Car looks great, but then again, never seen it any other way!

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Thanks for the kind words....

- The police interceptor badging has been on there for a little more then a year and its not going anywhere

-The brakes I just used my die grinderwith this attachment that looks like a green plastic disk with a bunch of little fingers on it, basically just took the rust off and scuffed it up a bit, then just ratle canned it once I got home and let it sit over night. Its flat black non reflective high temp paint, it shows a grill on the can so i think thats what its for.

-I will be at the bash but not till late friday so I will miss the first day part of the Volks Wagen brand standards is that there can't be more then 2 VW techs off on the same day, we already have 3 that are off that friday and I can't be the forth

-Jforce, my hood was cut up and redone a few monthes ago when they molded in the eyelids, they did the eyelids and painted it and then clear coated the @!#$ out of the whole hood. I just used the same wax as I always use, Mothers 3 stage. it says use the first stage 1 or twice a year thats it then stage 2 and 3 as often as you want, so I wash it, do stage 2 then 3 and then stage 2 and 3 again. With the polish just find somethign LOW SPEED (mine is 2600 rpm random motion orbital) I used alot of wax to keep the aplicator wet, you don't want dry spots. just soak the aplicator and start running it over the car. you can use pressure but you don't need a whole lot, just go up and down over each panel then side to side (no circular motions) each coat going on takes liek 10 mineuts total for the whole car, then just go over the small areas the machine can't get by hand. Let it sit for a while till it all hazes up and remove it all by hand with microfiber clothes. its very very very simple, as long as you get low speed random motion and keep the it wet with wax and avoid circles its practically idiot proof. Although I tried it out on my stock hood first just to get a hang of it

-The machine I looked at Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Sears Hardware, a couple other places and couldn't find anythign in the 2500 rpm area, I ended up find this one at a place called Zimmerman Hardwear one left in the bottom shelf box covered in dust I think this place was a branch of true value.

-any other questions, coments, complaints are welcome
