U might have seen that I was dyeing my headliner black in another post....well here is the final product......
First, no headliner....
A Few coats left...Used all those cans but 1 i think..... And yeah, great place to paint, i know.
Tried to get carpet and roof in one shot....
I was in kind of a hurry to get my car back together today, so i didnt paint the rubber sunroof piece, or the visors. I really think i should do the visors....but not so sure about the sunroof piece...kinda looks ok..
I think it looks better than the roof before, at least its a change and somethin different.
Do you guys think i should paint both the visors and the sunroof trim ?
how is the texture on the headliner, is it still soft or is it crusty?
other wise looks great
Yeah I was wondering about how it feels now that it is painted?
It looks good though, you did a good job..

feels a little crusty to be honest but nothing to crazy, its kinda what ud expect from goin almost white to black.
Havent noticed many people gettin in my car and touchin my roof though, so i should be alright..
looks damn good, i might do that...
does it feel bigger or smaller in the car now though?

I just started my headliner today. Already used three cans, how many did urs take? And how did you get the sunroof cover out? Looks nice. Mine was tan too. The rest of my interior is black. Don't know what GM was thinking. Well, thanks, Jay

MIne is grey i would like to have it white. but again i am worried about the whole getting the texter all crusty and stuff.
leave the trim around the sunroof and visors tan...looks perfect as it is
ShadyZ24, for the sunroof cover piece open the sunroof and slide it back about half way, get out of the car and look through the opening, on each corner of the sunroof cover there is a tab, push all tabs in and slide it off its rail, then lift the cover up through the top. late.
Thanks, I will try it tomorrow morning. Hopin' to get it all done tomorrow. Jay

i just got the headliner out of a 96 cav today , and its already the graphite/dark grey
I'd take off those warning stickers on the visors, then mask them, then dye that elastic strap black, and leave the rest tan. I'd also leave the sunroof trim. Your interior is gonna look real nice when it's done.
If u dont want it crusty recover it in a diff. Fabric
Thanks guys.
Jason thats a real good idea with dyeing just the elastic black! never thought of it.
But how do i get off those stickers ? im pretty sure they are on there good. And i think ive seen someone do that before and it looks all crappy underneath them, or they just dont come off real well.
I agree with leavin the sunroof trim....but u guys all think i should leave the visors ??
Sorry, forgot to answer anyone else's questions last post...
ShadyZ24 - took me about 5 and a half cans.... at first i was like WTF cuz i noticed that it looked like it had stripes, but they will go away eventually as u put on more coats. At first i wondered when to stop dyeing.....but i stopped when i noticed that if i sprayed a line of dye, it wouldnt look any darker than the rest of the headliner. JoE told ya how to get the slider out..put the sunroof in the vent pos.
Mat - Yeah, i thought it would make it feel smaller inside the car too beacause i know thats why the roof was a light color on the inside to start with (make it look bigger), but you really dont notice that you even dyed the roof until you look at it, so nah, doesnt make it feel smaller i dont think.
not sure how you'd get the stickers off... just an idea. My car didn't come with them, so i don't have to worry bout it. They're recovered neways.
