well ive had the GT for a year now and since there seems to be a fad of like "over the last year/evolving" threads i figgered id make one myself
im sorry for the length of this post and everything but this past year has been kinda eventful for me
first some pics of the first SonicFire.... i always like looking at these pics cause....well i spent a lot of time on the airbrushing and IMO the car was just an unfinished work of art... eventhough the airbrushing was actually covering up some unfinished body work cause that poor 97 SE played tag with a concrete freeway wall and lost... badly... but i put a new quarter panel on it and busted out the airbrushes got all creative...so it never got finished and never got cleared lol
NOW ONTO MY GT
1998 Sunfire GT 5Spd
SonicFire GT's first day home
First Mod
... coilovers..... they were on the car for only a day... i couldnt stand them.... looked kinda neat chillin in the driveway sittin all kinda of low and all....horrible to drive though especially on ohio roads
Three weeks after buying the car....
the kit and fenders gets test fitted....im starting to hate those fenders with a passion
1 month after i purchase the car/T-6 Days till the 2004 Bash....
i take it apart and start sanding....and spend 8 hours airbrushing the hood....which i think i shoulda spent more time on.....
T-2 Days till 2004 bash
with the fenders and front bumper primed, sanded, cut in, and loosly installed... its time for me to work my magic.......2004 Porsche Guardian Red..mmmmmmmm got lots of good feedback aboot this color.... its a little brighter then the stock red and when the sunshine hits it..... put yer ray-bans on
..........
i know my radiators red.... in all the confusion i forgot to put paper there..bite me lol
2004 J-Body Bash....
Sonics Debut to the world with the new look and it was put right where everyone HAD to see it... right next to the porta crappers lol and i was surprised my car made it into the jbo saturaday gallery 4 times...iono who i have to thank for that but thanx
see told you i was bright heh
heh guage magizine...... and jesse's old car before he made deer jerky
3 days after the bash....
motor pops..... good thing i bought a warrenty when i bought the car lol... 2" long x 3/4" deep chunk is missing from piston.... fun times
October 2004....
finally lowered right... this time im on brand new intrax springs and surprisingly... its a smooth ride compared to the goldlines i had on the 97SE then again the intrax isnt as big of a drop
March 2005....
Sonic becomes victim of the elite ohio MORON team when someone backs into my car and takes off while it was parked way in the boonie lot at giant eagle.....if i find da bastads..... they WILL die
Mid March of 2005....
we had a Twinsburg PD cruiser at the shop that i was putting some A/C parts on and my boss royally pissed me off that day so on my way to my car at lunch i decide to be stupid and snatch the Police Interceptor emblem off the back of the cruiser... walk over to my car and stick it on the back of my car ........ respect my authoritah!
still Mid March of 2005 ....
finally all my goodies from summit arrive.... B&M short throw shifter Prothane Upper and Lower motor mounts and both tranny mount bushings........ now if it werent for the wires for the map lights... my mirror would have already vibrated off and my clutch is beggin for mercy....and mercy shall be granted in due time lol
Mid April of 2005
My friend Mikey and I took a little trip to Detroit/Windsor up to see the Whiteboy bodykits set up so he could get his technic z24 lip and i could get my new hood.... after i get the hood smoothed, sleek and eyelided it should look pretty nice.... hopefully it all comes together nicely like it did last time......i also ended up getting a set of 2000-2002 sunfire back up lights that i have been looking for for a little over 2 years to fill the holes in my 2000 rear bumper
Mikeys car with the lip
and for the future.... heres a quick photochop and im hoping this is what im hoping my car looks like by the end of the year.. the hood will be painted when i redo the fenders and bumper here fairly soon and the rims are coming...ummmm eventually....$$$ flow is kinda tight atm
18" Sportmax 962 in Gunmetal with a polished lip.....i think that looks friggen hot... hopefully it looks just as good when its done
i try so hard to get it looking how i want it to look and I like hearing what everyone thinks of it and stuff so lemme know what you think... good or bad
Shush Weasel..i want my shirley temple
I like the look but one quick Q and this was bothering me the first time youy posted the car how come the airbrush work looks like a canvas airbrush and not nearly as glossy?
Im a level 32 joedm newb flamer.
well the first 4 pictures at the top..... that car was like my art project.... and was constantly getting re-sanded,re-basecoated and reairbrushed... so it never got cleared which is why its dull
and if yer talkin about the hood the dull one was taken just after i had finished airbrushing it.... after i took that pic it got covered with a clothe and then i moved it into the spraybooth with the car the next day and got cleared with the car....so thats why the first pic of the hood is dull and the second is glossy
Shush Weasel..i want my shirley temple
nice progress, what its gonna look like for this years bash ?
Looks good...a year has been a transformation also for me.

well if my boss keeps actin like he has..... probably the same with cracked fenders and bumper and a baby blue hood..and running like @$$...however i might just take my airbrushed hood off my bedroom wall and put it on the car for the bash....... hopefully i get shoptime within the next month
Shush Weasel..i want my shirley temple
Hand done art on J-Bodies kicks ass!
I like the new car so much more...it's awesome. Tell steve to lick a nut, and finish your car since you put so much time into his mexican wannabe truck (pardon the phrase) His truck is ugly, and you put more work into that truck then its worth. Snag those wheels most important...if you can, get the new hood prepped....stay over hours...do what ya gotta do, but get it done! if ya need help and there's something I can do, feel free to shout at me, but I know how you get when you start painting....you're in a zone, and you don't sense time for at least 6-8 hours lol
its so weird how that biohazard symbol looks like its glowing in those pics
ahh i see now
