I was on the jbody.org site early last year and I read where someone had gone to SEMA and had seen this company, Texas DAR, that had a new spoiler for the Sunfire.
I did some research and found out that they had a web-site with a telephone number. I called and talked to a Design/Sales Manager who had told me that the spoiler had been designed especially for the SEMA show that year in the hopes that GM would purchase them to put on a special edition Sunfire that they were working on.
After talking for a while, he also told me that they produce about 90% of the OEM spoilers that are on the North American cars...therefore he thought that the spoiler was going to be a big success with GM.
I asked him if they were going to be selling them to the public ...and at that time they hadn't made anymore than a prototype and the one on their SEMA showcar. I asked him to e-mail me if they were interested in selling them and about two to three months later I got a call from him. He said that they had sold one in Canada to a fellow in the Maritimes(out east) and the other now the other one to me. So I guess there is only 2 in existence.
So I guess I only have 1 of 2 in production & ever sold. I have done a search on JBO and the internet and could only find the other guy and ME! So it is very unique and I love the way it looks on my car.
I cant complain since there was no drilling or cutting and fit right into the factory holes and plugged right into the stock rear break wiring. So I'm loving that.
When the body shop painted it I had them fill in the end holes were stupid little caps went to cover the screws for the upper layer of the wing. So I guess unique and clean that way. Well here are some pictures.
Ok before anyone goes crazy. I know it needs dropped (pro-kit & AGX) & rims(silver 17" Motegi MR4 I think), It needs a polish and wax job since I havent done it since fall, but winter is finally over here I THINK. All complements welcome. Oh ya and it needs washed to.
Regards,
hmm doesnt look bad, im not usually a huge fan of wings but its pretty nice
get some wheels and your car will be damn nice
You'll hear this a million times...Get rims and DROP IT!
That's a sweet spoiler...
I dunno, not really liking it
But its cool you have a unique wing
Ok I know. Drop it and some rims. There in the plans for this summer. But it's tough on a tight budget when you can only do a little at a time.
Yes it is unique and it isnt to aweful IMO. I think the look will definately improve once rims/tires and drop get on the car. Plus as far as i know it is only 1 of 2 in existance.
I like it alot b/c I had the ends shaved smooth on the upper layer and I didnt have to drill any holes. Dropped right into the factory wing holes and hooked up the factory wiring harness. So no complaints there. Easy as pie to install.
Regards,
I dunno man, Im not really diggin it. Its probably because i prefer shaved trunks on cavs and fires. It is kinda cool that you have 1 of only 2, but you could still get a wing that is close to that design. If you like it though, thats all that matters becuae it is your car.
i bet that wing would look real good on a newer body fire.....just cuz of the pointed rear

Looks like you are ready for monster truck rally, needs dropped
Would have done that before the spoiler.

WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also dude i think its about time u get some damn rims on there
, u could of used ur spoiler money on a drop also
Well I have done many things before lowering. Mainly b/c I wanted to see and feel each mod first. Like when I added the front strut bar. Then rear strut bar. Upper/lower motor mounts. Rear sway bar etc etc. B/c If I lowered it first I think I wouldn't have been able to feel the benifits as much. But it is on it's way to being dropped and rims soon so no worries about that.
On a tight budjet only little things can be done at a time and what at that time money will allow to buy.
BlackEco: Thanks for the comment I didnt think it was that bad
I scrape sometimes in places as it is at stock height and hear lots of scrapping in winter as it is. Up here in canada we have something called winter and deep snow and sh!t roads to drive on with snow and ice. God I wish it was summer all year round.
Regards,
Sorry to bust your bubble, but there's one more guy who's got it. Ian Lacey and me put it on about a year ago. I didn't like the double wing, especially cause it sits so high in the rear window. Here is the same spoiler, but without the second deck. It's painted now, but I need someone to host pics for me for better pictures.
Sorry about the quality and size, but my camera phone is all I have.
ya man sorry your are not the first to have that wing.
but its still a nice looking wing
Very nice looking, I actually love the kit and spoiler, and hope to see that Sunfire a little more. I'd consider something different with the rims though, something cleaner, and possibly black with a polished lip. It is your car though.
Thanks for all the comments guys. Well I guess I'm 1 of 3 to have the wing for now. But still pretty rare I guess. It actually doesnt look to bad without the upper deck on it on Ian Lacey car. But I got mine perminately on there with the end screw holes shaved smooth.
Well I have thought about tons of rims but cant really decide on what I want. But I guess a drop is first. I have thought about many things for lowering. Mainly I have decided on the Pro-kit/AGX combo. But I also thought about maybe coil-overs then I can ride low in the summer and raise it up in winter since I drive my car all year round.
But I have yet to see anyone test out a set of coil-overs through a winter and how they turn out in the spring and not being all rusted together from the salt/snowy roads that you would even be able to adjust them come spring. Do companys even warranty that?
Technically I would love to do air ride but again the winter problem with airline freeze-up.
Dont worry you will be seeing more of my ride around as the money comes in. It isnt finished yet.
MR4
Axis Mesh2
Exel DL46
Racing Hart Evolution C2
And there are many more choices but I guess I'll have to lower it first. What do you guys think for rims?
Regards,
lol... That's Josh's car. I just helped him with it.

racing harts... they look sweet
I think the Axis Mesh2 would look hella sweet on my car if I was ridin bags. Damm I want air ride.
