Name That Part...
Monday, March 21, 2005 2:37 PM
Well I took my whole front end off (hood, bumpers, fenders) and have been installing it in pieces over the past couple weeks - well I'm not a very organized person and in the course of those weeks I lost the bolts that bolt into the bumper and fender alonf the botom of the wheel well, lost the bolts that go on the front of the bumper by the radiator support (most use retainers so im just gonna use some I have but my body guy boled the bumper there) and also found some things that I don' remember what they went to. The one that is perplexing me the most is this nut. It is painted my body color but i cant think for the life of me where it came from. anyone have ideas?

Also, anyone know best place to get those bolts to put my bumper back on? I'm guessing best place is a junkyard

it looks like one that holds the door hinges on... did you mess with those at all?

Looks like a door hinge bolt, then again a fenders bolt from under the hood?

Yeah, i agree with QBE, where the fenders bolt to the frame, under the hood. Either that or where the hood hinges bolt to the car also. I'm 99% sure it goes under the hood along the fenders somewhere.

check the backside of your impact bumper the steel one. it looks like the nut that is on the back of that there are 4 i think on each side. it's only nut i can think of right now that would have body color paint on it. I'll be under the car tomorrow and poke around a little extra, if i see anything I'll be sure an post back. it's warm to say the least down here, so no hurrying because its cold

I don't know why it would be painted body color so I'm probably wrong, but it almost looks like one of the nuts used to hold the seats down.

After taking my front end off this weekend, I have to ask - did you take the bumper rebar off? Is that a small 10mm bolt? If so, that holds the front rebar to the front end in front of the radiator.

yes, it's a 10mm nut...and they're everywhere...lol

If you had the bumper off, it may belong on a bolt that attaches the bumper to the corner/fender

keep in mind you need to consider which bolts are going to be body colored....

check the 4 nuts that hold the inner metal bumper support thing on (the big ass black metal thing your front bumper sits on under your headlights) .. body paint can get in there easily too..

well i just removed my seats, and it looks exactly like the bolts from under the seats. also painted body color with no clear.

does the washer there spin freely from the bolt, but not come off? thats how the seat ones are.
