Am I seeing this correctly?

Is this true? Did the 2003-2005 Pontiac Sunfire come with a LEATHER (yes caps are necessary)steering wheel? Does any one have one like this? Or is this one of those "we were going to do this but decided not to" GM tease things?

My '04 came with everything except the monsoon system. No leather wrapped wheel though. I have also seen images with a leather wrapped automatic shift knob.

GM did list the 2004 1SC model, the "complete" packaged sunfire, to have come equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and automatic shifter. Would be nice to know if it does exist. Apparently it was one of the optional items, that probably no one ever dished out the money for in an economy class car.

So after a little snooping around. I have confirmed that a leather wrapped steering wheel and automatic shift knob does exist for '03+ fires.

Time to check the local junk yard.

I will now start looking for it. If I can find that steering wheel then I don't have to dish out the money for the Jap version

I have just looked it up on gmpartsdirect.com and it shows that the 2003-05 Cavy and Sunfire both have that steering wheel as an option and here is the part# 22671778 for 03 and for 04-05 it is 22713816 once again

juat wondering but since theres no pic to go with those #'s which is which ? the first # was $250 and the 2nd # was $170

Well, I have read that there was a spline change in 04 so that may be the difference in the parts. Someone who knows this for sure can back me up. If your car is 03 and down you should go with the $250 but if you have an 04-05 you should get the $170 one. But not 100% sure just 90% sure.

That package also included a leather wrapped e-brake handle. I have a leather wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and e-brake handle in my '02 Sunfire Sedan! They are so much nicer than the stock rubber crap.

does anyone have the part number for the leather wrapped e-brake? I'm going to have to add these to the "list" of things to do.

From GM Parts Direct:

GM Part Number: # 22628964
Category: Parking Brake Apply
Pack Qty: 1
Core Charge: $0.00
GM List: $82.86
Our Price: $49.13
Shipping: $12.95

TOTAL: $62.08

In case you would like to double check the part number for yourself, here's what I did:

1. Enter 2005 PONTIAC SUNFIRE and click on SEARCH
2. Click on BRAKES
3. Click on PARKING BRAKE
4. Click on PARKING BRAKE CONTROL
5. It should come up as PARKING BRAKE CONTROL, SUNFIRE, W/ LEATHER WRAP

When you say "leather wrapped handle" do you mean a leather wrapped manual shift knob or a leather wrapped e-brake handle? I'm confused.

If you mean a leather wrapped manual shift knob, from what I have seen aren't they all leather wrapped? I'm not sure as I've never owned nor driven in a manual.

If you mean a leather wrapped e-brake handle, read three posts up from yours for the part number and pricing.

I actually meant the shift knob. Just wondering, because mine sure feels like plastic...

Hum... I just checked eBay and found this, so, I was wrong, they aren't all wrapped in leather.

GMPD shows a leather wrapped manual shift knob for '95-'99, but not '00+. The part number it gives for the '95-'99 one is: #225855, but when I click on "Add To Cart" it says the part number cannot be found in their database . It also says the part number might have changed.

I searched around on here and couldn't find any more information. I guess your best bet would be to call a GM dealer and see if they can get you the part number for it. Good luck.

the 2000-2002 has a leather option too... now would i be able to put this into my '01 Cavalier? using the same air bag so I don't have a weird Pontiac symbol on my steering wheel.

Do you mean using the Cavalier air bag on the Sunfire steering wheel? If so, it won't work because the air bags are completely different shapes.

So after many weeks of having posted this forum I ended up at my local junk yard and came across this

I was so and and and when I finally calmed down I did this and said

Once I retrieved these items I realized I needed the steering column as well because my car is a 00 and the above came off of a 03 Sunfire. Oh, and it was all less than $100 because my J yard had a half price deal going on for the Memorial Day weekend

Nice finds! It looks like all they need is a good cleaning with some leather cleaner. Definitely post pictures when you get everything installed. Good luck with the install.
