installing power windows?
Friday, January 30, 2009 9:54 PM
i needed two new doors for my cavalier, and managed to get 2 sunfire doors for free (i own a 2 dr cavalier z24)...

but i orig have crank windows, and these doors have power windows installed. does anyone have or can make me a diagram to show how i can install switches myself and make these power windows work?

or is there a way that i can swap my cranks into these power doors? i havent ever messed with the inside of the doors other than the speakers...

thanks in advance!

The inner guts are interchangable, so if you wanted, you could still have crank windows. As for wiring the power windows, I believe I saw a diagram in an earlier post... Or if you can find Kardain, He's pretty good with these things

definately take the time to do a power window swap. ull never want crank again

I dont have a wiring diagram or anything, so i cant help that way, but a local scrap yard will prove to be handy for practice and to find the window switch you will need.

Heck you could prolly take all the wiring from a donor car and just use that,

I agree with Jackson that you should find a donor car for the harnesses and switches. You don't want to get involved with switching the window regulators as (1) they're riveted in and are one of my least favorite J repairs, (2) there's apparently a guy at the factory with a file that sharpens the edges of all access holes in the doors before assembly. He's probably the one that also affixes the "Elf hands needed for service" stickers under the door panels too. And (3) no first aid kits were ever standard with these cars. (Just kidding, but only a little.) Cars with power windows usually have power locks and mirrors too, so your fun can be multiplied by three if you choose to take the challenge. Good luck. - Mark
