Sunfire cluster in cavalier

Will a sunfire gauge cluster fit in a cavalier of the same year (95-99) without any modifications? And is it a direct match plug in application?

I have been and what I find is 00-05 cavaliers are all interchangeable as well as those same years with sunfires to cavaliers but my car is a 98 so what will work for that besides an overlay?

it'll need to be a 96-99 sunfire cluster and its not plug and play.

I'm currently looking at this swap, def not plug-n-play.
The cavalier cluster uses 2 harness', while the Sunfire has all the wires in one harness.

Since I still can't find a wiring diagram for the Sunfire, one of these weekends I'll have to sit down and go through each wire and figure it out.
If I do, I'll post my results.

Here's a scan of a page from my '99 service manual that shows the main cluster connectors for both the Cavalier and Sunfire. Hope you can read it and maybe it will help you resolve the differences. - Mark

The 95-99 are the same as the Cavalier cluster bulbs, either buy the base pieces at your local auto store, or break the old bulbs out and put in bulbs/LEDs(dont have to solder).

Quick question, is there any major difference in the 95' wiring from the 96-99 wiring?
I know for a fact that the wires used for the DRL are different after 95', what about the rest?

Ok guys.. this is what I've come up with.
Gonna try it out this weekend(time allowed).

First color is Cavalier, second color is Sunfire(read notes at bottom of list!):
"A" row:
Serial Data Signal - Tan=Tan

Fuse Output(battery) - Orange=Orange

Fuse Output(off run crank) - Pink=Pink

Check Engine - Brown/White=Brown/White

Left turn Signal Feed - Light Blue=Light Blue

Right turn signal feed - Dark Blue=Dark Blue(B8)

IP lamp Feed - Gray=Gray

DRL relay output - Light Green/Black=Light Green/Black

"B" row:
PCM ground - Black/white=Black/White

Wheel Speed Signal - Dark Green/White=Dark Green/White

Headlamp Output(Highbeam) - Pink=Pink

Ground - Black=Black(A5)

Fuel Gauge Sensor - Purple=Purple

Headlamp Output(lowbeam) - Dark Blue=Dark Blue

Ground - Black=Black

AC Switch output - Light Green=Light Green/black

Park Brake Switch - Light Blue=Light Blue

The only wires that are different on the harness' are(swapped between A and B row);
Right Turn Signal Feed(B8 on sunfire, A7 on Cavalier)
Ground(One black on the A row of the Sunfire goes to one of the black wires on the B row of the Cavalier)

Also on the B row of the Sunfire the first Dark Blue wire is for the Headlamp Output(lowbeam), and the second is for the Right turn signal.

Still not sure about the difference in 95' and 96-99 wiring however...

sorry to bring this back from the graveyard but has anyone done a writeup or anything on how to get cluster flat? I tried shaving cluster and dash but not sitting flush and angled right like the cavy cluster, any ideas? or will me providing pictures of the installed cluster help?

Uh, custom fab. There's only one method for throwing a 95-99 sunfire cluster into a cav or vice versa without alterations, and it involves swapping a number of different parts.
