I was just wondering if you could switch an automatic center console into a 5 speed car and if it would require any modifications
theres nothing different between the consoles except the trim piece that surrounds the shifter
fill out your profile, note what car you have, other then that... it depends what you have for a center console and what youre lookin to swap into it.. there may not be enough room to move the shifter around in the auto console..
some consoles (not sure about the automatic ones) the piece where the shifter is pops out of the center console, you may or may not be able to swap the console and then the piece around the shifter .. I honestly havent seen an manual center console up close in a few months so im not sure that would work or not..
ok, i took a look and seems at least on the cavaliers 95-05 you should be able to swith the console and then still use the manual shifter cover.. if you look at the picture below you will see two parts numbered 7 .. that will be the part you need to swap aswell as the center console.. provided its a cavalier center console (again,fill out your profile and mention your car when asking for advice,help,info) youre swapping... I dont know much about nothing when it comes to the sunflowers..(sorry just read it lastnight somewhere on the site and its damn funny..)

Yep helps alot, thanks. Im getting a great deal from someone i know who wants to redo their whole interior in carbon fiber, so Im getting the door panels - custom painted already to the same color as my car, along with a tweed covered dash and custom center console. Its just his car is auto and mines a 5 speed so I wasnt sure if it would be a direct fit on the console. And yes I'll get that profile filled out now. thanks again

not true on the 00-05 consoles.....holes a different size believe it or not
Yeah bigg differences between 96-99 console and a 00+ console. not saying they can't be swapped, but more differences than what that picture above shows. That is a 96-99 console.

false, i have a 99 cavalier and I swapped up the 2001 console, front bolt is not at the same place, and the center bolt, you need to swap the #3 of 00+ on the picture and the 2 back bolt is at same place

the pic in the link is for a 95-90 sunfire,the console is obviously different then those in cavaliers for the same years..looks like you would have to change the set up around the shifter and do something about the area around your hvac and stereo. for some reason though I dotn recal this console, i pulled my current carpet at the yard from a sunfire (not sure they year) and the console didnt look anything like this, it looked more like a cavalier one with almost non obvious small differences between the two..
