Hi,
Today I went to pick up my car since it was getting painted. I arrived early ans saw they had taken the battery out. When I started my car I noticed all the gauges were not working, all the needles were at 0 and the odometer had no light. I turned my car off and on again but nothing happened. All the lights that usually lit when you turn the car on (parking brake, oil, etc.) did not work either. The strange thing is that the low and high beam lights, the turn signals and the emergency or warning lights (mmm I dont know if they are called that) they all work. Also the background ligth of the cluster works. I took it to a mechanic but he was leaving (saturday at 4pm) he just rapidly checked the fuses if they were getting voltage or current or whatever they usually checked and he said evrything seemed fine that maybe a ground or something was incorrect.
I will have to wait until monday to take it again to the mechanic however I want to have a fair idea of what might be wrong so they dont trick me! Will they have to dissasemble the cluster or change it? (if they do have to disassemble it I will tell them to change the leds on the cluster to blue leds to make the most out of this problem lol) cuz some months they quoted me 50 dollars to change the leds because they said it was too much work to disassemble the dash.. but it seemed to me too much money just to change the the cluster color. Maybe destiny wanted me to change it and screw my cluster so they have to open it anyway.
any ideas of what the problem might be or how to fix it?
Thanks!

that same thing happened to my bravada. it turned out to be the cluster fuse. i would check them myself again just to make sure. but other than that i have no clue what could be wrong.

anyway ya look at it Id think it was something they did, and for them to charge you for an issue that wasnt an issue before they had it is bs...
but id agree, check the fuses yourself first,
my question is, it it normal to remove a battery for a paintjob?..
yea they actually should fix it for free. if it wasnt a problem before. just bring it up to them and be like well it was working fine before this.
and if they want to paint the engine bay i would assume you need to take the battery out.

I didnt even think of that..lol.. I ad just woken up when i read it and was like ,why would they do that...lol..duh.
Well, today I decided to turn my car on, cross my fingers and voilá, my cluster was completely working. I have no idea what happened but I hope it does not stop working anytime soon cuz I dont want to spend in a new cluster lol I wanna spend that in a new steering wheel lol.
I really have no idea what was wrong, yesterday I took the battery out, then put it in, started my car several times during the day and everytime the cluster didnt work. I guess my car doesnt like being in a bodyshop lol
Thanks to everyone that answered.
