mounting a tach!

im looking to mount a tach on my steering colum cover... i belive the hazzard light switch will get in the way.. anyone modified the hazard light switch in anyway?

its a 3.75" glow shift tach
factory tach is on the left of my cluster and don't work... i want to keep a clear view to my speedometer as much as possible. the temp gauge on the left side of my cluster also dont work so im not worried about blocking view of that!

what im thinking might work is if i ground off the hazard switch.. mounted the gauge to the colum then had a small steel rod(1/8" dowell maybe) and made a moving swtich (push off and pull on) out the side of the cover near the wiper switch arm that would move the hazard switch underneath the cover?

looking for some opinions on what people think of this idea i dont want the tach up on the dash. after my 3400 swap the stock tach dont work n im gonna order glowshift volt, oil pres, and temp gauges so i figure now is the time to decide on a tach aswell.

Get one of the bullet tach/shiftlight combos from Stewart Warner. Much more accurate and not as hideous as that horrid piece. Easy as @!#$ 4 wire hook-up too and easy as pie to adjust the shiftlight.

Do the right thing and get the shiftlight/tach combo. You'll be able to see all your gauges and you won't get laughed at for having a stupidly large tach in your car.

Stewart Warner > Autometer

Everything new Autometer is coming out with was released by Stewart Warner first. The only thing that is truly theirs is that stupid computerized gauge system that costs WAY too much.

SWP had the bullet tach/shiftlight over a year before and that shiftlight/tach gauge unit at least 6 months before Autometer did. Plus they've been around a heck of a lot longer and were used for YEARS as OEM equipment for clusters, not just a single gauge here and there.

meh... doesnt really matter to me. i like the look of the dpss (strangely). Otherwise, i really dont like the look of any gauges, it has to match stock perfectly or it looks like ass imo.

I do love that setup, but I'll take my blinding LEDs right in front of me any day

That's a picture of my setup from 2 years ago.
