Swapping fabric from one seat to another
Thursday, November 20, 2008 5:24 PM
so ive searched far and wide and could not get stock 2 door front seats with the pattern i wanted so im moving to plan B. Ive got 2 front seats from a 4 door the plan is to strip them and pull that fabric over the 2 door seats i have now. so ive got the fabric i want off of the 4 door seats and the only thing that seems like it would make this not work is the front and bottom of the seats are glued somehow to the foam to keep the shape, so my question is does anyone know what to use to reglue the fabric to the foam?

So your taking the fabric from a set of seats from a 4 door and putting it on a set of seats from a 2 door? The seats are the same for 2 doors and 4 doors. Just put the 4 door seats in the 2 doors.

QFT, See they aren't exactly the same.

If you check Walmart in the sewing area, they have all sorts of fabric and hem glue, would that work for you?

Yes, they do. what we mean is in a 2 door car, the front seats fold down so passengers can get in the back seat. front seats in a sedan do not fold down.

the glue used for the seats is upolstery clue, I used to work in a shop doing just this sorta thing..ripping out old interior and putting in new,be it fabric or leather.

the glue gets sprayed on with this

the foam gets a good once over and the fabric pulled tight..around the edges of the interior and out of site metal rings are crimpped around the edge and through a hole in either the seat frame or a a metal rod already molded into the seat foam.

but like everyone else said, if its easier to do the seat swap itself thats your best bet.
