My last posting said that the dome will turn off lol, my mad i meant to say it will NOT turn off. Again i have a 97 4 door cavalier and the dome light will not turn off. I have taken it in to the chevy dealership they said that i looks like it is the door switch and that it has a short in it and need replaced as rewired from the switch all the way to the light. does anybody know if this really is the problem or has anybody experienced this?
if its just the switch, go to a scrapyard, and get one for like $5 it prolly only needs to be wired in right by the switch, not all the way to the light. try that.

screw the junkyard. THE DEALER sells em for like 8 bucks too.
i had the same problem in my 98, it turned out to be my passenger side rear door switch, cost 7 bucks at the napa, put it in, took all of 2 minutes, and dome light works great now. no big deal.
alright cool thanks man, but how did you find out wich one went bad?
in my case i opened all doors and checked them and found the bad one was actually falling apart in the sense that the spring part of it was hanging out a little so I oulled it out and whole thing fell apart.
just checked the driver passenger and that was it got a new one and now it works!!! thanks for the help man i have been with out a light for a while now!
