In case the title isn't clear, I've left the windows down during a thunderstorm. It came in overnight and totally didn't look like rain before I went to sleep. I got in the car and of course, squish goes the carpet. Well, I have some TurtleWax Oxy Cleaner for the carpet, so I'll be taking my seats out to get at that in it's entirety. My main question is what should I do with the seats? There is a definite "wet" smell to it and I've left the windows down fully in the sun to try and dry it as best as I can.
Also, is there any right way to clean the felt on the window seal? It's gotten wet and sort of dirty, so I want to clean that off as well.
steamclean the seats, probably the best bet.
Any particular brands of shampoo work better than the rest, or use just any old Upholstery shampoo?
uh, probably just a normal carpet cleaning one that hoover may make. thats what we use.
i would take out your whole interior ... not to hard to do .. take your seats out, center console., back seats. and your carpet and let it dry outside..

I had the same rpoblem, I had to use one of those "sham wow's" They are great, and after about a week of drying in the sun, the smell eventually went away... I didnt take out my whole interior though, I just lifted the carpet and dryed the carpet and floor board as best I could.
98z24, lowered 2", aem intake, cat-back striaght pipes!, cop ligths in the front and rear, 18" liquid metal's, primer black, tint, full audio and video.
I had to clean my car out some years ago due to her dog Pi$$!, $%!&ing and puking all over the interior dureing a move across states, it was all over and it was in there, deeeep (and it was a horrible smell).
what I had done was take everything out spray it down with resolve capret cleaner, scrubed with a scrubby brush, and used the huge wet dry vac at the car wash to pull everything out of the seats and carpet while at the same time rinsing it water.. I took my time with so it took me about an hour and a half or so minus the time to take it out and put it back in, but I killed several birds with one stone and gave a full cleaning of the entire inside of the car.
you would have thought it came right of the show room floor.
Hmm...the car is over 5 years old. Maybe I should just replace the interior. New carpet and seats would run me $500, but done in stages, it wouldn't be bad. Carpet then seats, or vice versa. Suppose I'll shampoo them first. Thanks for the thoughts guys!
