Removed/Installed Dash Trim Piece
Sunday, October 05, 2008 7:49 PM
Well with the help of a few people on this forum I've managed to replace my old busted trim piece (the part around the gauges and radio) and put a new one in. Well that and the help of a donor at a salvage yard. I'm hoping the pics will show, but this is what I was dealing with, and what I ended up with.

-Thanks for the help

By the way, could anyone tell me how to replace the cracked beige piece close to the windsheild? (Picture #2 for reference)

that top part of the dash dose not come off its actully part of the whole lower dash, so u would have to replace the whole lower dash shell.

Well, how it got broke the first time, is the day before I bought the car someone busted out the driver side window and stole the CD player, in the midst of it all they shattered the dash. And then one time I got pissed and slammed my fist against it. But it's back to looking like a new...almost. And about the dash cover...I rememeber something somewhere about "Dash Mats". Are they decent? Or a waste and look like trash?

the mats are to cover up the part you had to take off to get to the gauge bezel (the part you just replaced) i don't think they go up the dash far enough to cover up the cracked parts

Don't you bottom out?

- Yes I do

They're decent, I got a Coverlay one from Autozone a year or so ago for about $30 and I like it. It's not a perfect fit but it's not horrible either and it covers the top of the dash all the way to the windshield. Here's a couple of pics...

Hey Ranger, I really like the pics. Got me thinking about getting one, I'll have to find a beige one to keep everything matched. But I appreciate the info. Thanks.

You have four options...

1. Fiberglass it by either taking the whole dash out or trying to do it with it in(a cluster@!#$ to say the least)
2. Buy the plastic cover that snaps on and looks OEM for over $100
3. Buy a $30 dash mat and put it on using double sided tape
4. Deal with the crack(s) like I did for a year

Take your pick
