Cavalier to Sunfire dash swap. (56k take it easy)
Saturday, October 04, 2008 7:38 PM
old Dash:

Sunfire Support Frame:

Starting to come together:

I have to go back and grab the cluster wiring harness for the sunfire cluster and the hvac.
But over all its falling together pretty neatly.

Quick question to anyone who has done the swap,
Did you have fitment issues on the passenger side?
There is something keeping the bottom half of the dash from going flat against the door jam.
Any idea why?

I'll try to get a picture of this, but if you look close at the picture, you can see where the dash end(lower half) is not sitting flush with the door jam.
I'm thinking the piece behind the glove box is hitting the firewall or floor and won't let it rest all the way back.

I got the dash in finally.

But I got a new question.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the Cavalier and Sunfire clusters?

I have the wiring harness from the sunfire, but it only has one harness where as the Cavalier has two.

Well I finally trimmed it up, but had force it in there.
I'd like to get the sunfire cluster wired up tho.

actually I didn't touch the Sunfire dash, I trimmed the cavalier cluster up.. ALOT.
And it still doesn't sit right, I had to force the dash cover on and get it screwed down, but I'll take pics because I have to remove it because I forgot to put in the drivers side air tube.. things..

Heres some more completed pictures:

Finally, heres the finished pictures.

I need to take the dash pad off, because something isn't bolted down tightly enough, cos the dash rattles.
I also need to cut the Sunfire dash a bit, because the bulge for the millage counter is keeping it from going down flat and even.
I know people don't like the color, or the fact that I painted some of the dash but I like it, so don't start the hate.
I'll have a graphite lower half for the center console hopefully here before the end of the month.

90% of the Sunfire interior went into the Cav, since it was all good condition and graphite.
Complete Dash
Door Panels
A-Pillars
Door jam/carpet retainers
Rear Seat
Front Seats
Steering wheel(which is helluva lot lighter than the Cavalier wheel)
Headliner

I still need the rear quarter panels in graphite and the little triangle pieces that cover the mirrors on the doors.
