Please help me find these door panel inserts for my Sunfire Sedan!

I am almost finished with the Sunfire GT interior swap in my 2002 Sunfire SE Sedan, but the one thing that is holding me up is the door panel inserts. I can't, for the life of me, find graphite Patina/Redondo cloth door panel inserts for a Sedan.

I know that the "Sport Interior Package" which features the graphite Patina/Redondo cloth was available on some early model Sunfire Sedans here in the US, but I have never actually seen one in person, I only know this option was available thanks to my 1998 Sunfire dealer brochure.

Another thing I know, thanks to the internet, is that this cloth was available in Sedans in Canada through 2002. I'm not sure the exact trim level, but the few I have seen online had either a Twin Cam or ECOTEC engine, so I'm guessing the "top of the line" Sedans received this cloth in Canada.

What I am wondering is if someone can either find some of these door panel inserts in a junkyard in Canada and send them to me (I will pay you of course) or if someone can give me part numbers to order them from GM.

Here is a picture of the cloth I am referring to:

This is very important as this is all I need to complete my Sunfire GT interior swap and I have yet to find any in the junkyards around me . Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not that this will help you in anyway... but a while ago there was a 96' sunfire in the junkyard near me with the tan interior with that "Sport Package". So they do exist. It had the lumbar support on the driver seat and the leather wrapped wheel and knobs too.

I'll keep an eye out for the door panels though!

Yeah, the only 1995 - 1999 Sedan I've ever seen in person with the "Sport Interior Package" was a tan one with the tan interior . Someone in Canada should be able to find the inserts pretty easy in a junkyard since they were in 2000 - 2002 Sedans up there and this fabric seems to be a little more prevalent in Canadian Sedans.

If all else fails, I am just going to cut the cloth off the backside of 4 front seats in the junkyard and re-wrap the current door panel inserts myself.

You do realize I am talking about Sedan door panel inserts, not Coupes correct?

I think the 2000-2002 sedans with the Sport Cloth were the 'GTX' package cars. They had the 2.4L and the sport interior package. Essentially a 4-door GT, but I think it was auto-only.

At any rate, you're best bet is finding a coupe or two with the cloth on the doors, and then re-wrapping your factory ones using the cloth you find. It'll be next to impossible to find a sedan with the right cloth. They do exist, but to find a wrecked one or something is very unlikely.

Have you tried media.gm.com? If you go to Pontiac, then either Canada or US and then to Archives, you can basically see all the options and packages for every year of Sunfire. Not many people know about it though. LoL.

I'm glad my car already has the Sport Interior Package. '98 SE coupe. Lucky find.

Good luck with your search though!!

Thanks for the offer, but I'll just look for a couple GTs in my local yards I guess. It'll be easier for both of us . Thanks again for the offer though. If I change my mind or can't fnd any I'll let you know.

Okay, so you weren't talking about Sunfire Sedans with that cloth . Thanks for the heads up though.

Lucky Candians getting a Sunfire GT Sedan !

The problem with the Coupe inserts is that while they appear to be big enough to re-cover the front inserts on the Sedan, they do not seem big enough to re-cover the rear inserts. I think I am going to have to go back to my original plan of cutting the cloth off the back of 4 front seats and using that to re-cover all four inserts. It'll be a pain, but the inserts have to match the seats or else it will drive me absolutely nuts .

Thanks for the help guys .

So if you find two wrecked GTs, you can't just take the cloth off both doors in both cars and recover each panel in your car with one? Hard to explain, but I can't see it now being possible.

Just take two wrecked GTs. Use the door cloth from one car to recover your front door insert, then use the cloth from the other wrecked one to recover your rear door inserts.

Why is it that no one makes any fabric like this? It would save so much time and money. LoL.

Regardless, you must post up a bunch of pictures!

Here is the package I was talking about:

GTX Performance Sport Sedan features (2001/2002):
2.4L engine, air conditioning, cruise
control, cargo net, power mirrors,
deluxe headliner, power door locks and
windows, remote keyless entry, tilt
steering, variable intermittent wipers,
and CD player/radio
It was auto. only though. Most have the 15" rims too. There are actually a couple around here. A black one and a silver one at least.

Here are the ones currently on the Ontario Trader:

I'm not sure if the Coupe inserts would have enough cloth on them to re-cover the Sedan inserts. You said you have a Coupe right? Is there anyway you could measure the width and length of the Coupe inserts so I could compare them to the measurements for the Sedan inserts to see if they would work or not? I would really appreciate it.

Yeah, my Sedan has all those same options, minus the engine . I am going to make it look like a GT and then down the road maybe swap in an ECO to make it a "real GT" . It really sucks that GM never made a Sunfire GT Sedan, I mean they made a Grand Am GT Sedan . Oh well, it'll be more fun to "build" one myself .
