Okay well after giving up some my current door panels project and selling em to a friend who would I got some door panels off of him that were flat blacked, the only thing is he didn't do em right they look alright in some parts its just he did them with primer I think and its flaking off in parts, my questions are....
1)Wat kind of paint can I use to get a good nice look for this project?
2)To achieve the smooth look do I have to sand all the way down to were there's no more of the stock texture?or can I use some good filler primer to help out with that? Can anyone suggest any brands that work well?
3)Wat can I use to make sure that the paint won't be flaking if the primer or paint don't stick to the bare plastic? Is there some kind of rattle can adhesion promotor that comes in a rattle can?

Sorry for all the questions its just I've seen people start projects like this and never finish them or they look like crap. I didn't finish my other project just because I'm no good with fiberglass and just didn't have the time, plus once they started coming together I just didn't like the look I had originally planned. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys sorry for the long post

In autozone you can get this duplicolor vynil and fabric, around 6 dollars a spray can. This is actually very good, you dont need a primer. You can at the end add some layers of clear coat (you can also get it in autozone or walmart or whatever). If done correctly (wait between layers) you will get great results. I did my interior with this white paint, black will be better because small scratches or dirt will not be revealed as much as with white.

Also, you can use dupont paint if you have the proper spray gun and will obtain a shinier look.

When i painted my radio bezel, i just picked up some high build primer and flat black paint(rattle cans) from my local parts store. I sprayed the primer directly onto the bezel and then sanded it with 320 grit and repeated until the whole bezel was smooth. After it was smooth i sprayed the flat black. If you use a clear coat on a flat color, you are going to get a shine(which defeats the purpose of flat paint). But there is flat clear coat out there, but is harder to find and requires more work to apply.

I did not do any sanding to the color coat and there is no clear coat on it, which sucks cuz it scratches easily.

Wow that looks real nice man! I was looking into those flat matte clear coats because of the scratching, that's the only thing I don't like the doors are flat blacked right now (look like crap btw) but they scratch very easily

make shure you use plenty of rubbing alch on your panels b4 you paint to help it stick. id definatly use a clear it will scratch i sande down my center console very smooth used building primer and sanded inbetween coats along with rubbing alc painted and cleared and where the seat belt connectors hit it are rubbing the paint away. im thinnking of going with a 03-05 console or a sunfire one seeing how their a little thinner
