Well, I have finally successfully built something with fiberglass. It's not much but, it sure helped my stereo. Anyway, keep in mind that what looks like a low spot next to the tweeter is just dirty (like the rest of my interior and windshield right now) and that I know there is a little gap at the bottom. The other side doesn't have that gap and it appears that maybe the door panel sags there. But to have used factory sail panels and to be my first fiberglass job, tell me what you think.
If it can't drag, it ain't low enough!
i like it
i cant do anything with fiberglass
good luck
it looks like a retarded nipple.
sticks out 2 far imho. and if u can't get it 2 not stick out so far, don't mount a tweeter there.

It actually lies flush against the window seal. If you are referring to the tweeter mount itself, it's out that far because it's mounted on the factory sail. I may redo them from scratch without the factory panels.

looks fine to me. good job!

Thanks to everyone for replying. I like seeing what people think...even the criticism because I'm sure it's only constructive.

u can use the panels still just next time cut into the panel to recessed the tweeter more into the panel for that almost flushed look. any way nice for the first try.
ya know? that's actually not a bad idea. I got an extra set of cups since the back components are on plates. Maybe I'll swing by the junkyard and get a couple more sails and try that.

try to angle them more too you dont want it sticking straight out. but looks good.
They do angle back. I used angle mounts. It just isn't too aparent in the pic. That's my half @$$ photography. HAHA! The next set are going to be more strongly angled. I went to the junkyard today to pic up two more sails...freebies! (I know the guy that owns the place.) I'm working on the suggestion of getting them more flush mounted. The part that is gonna take the longest is flushing up the driver side where GM put the stupid endention in the sail instead of making the mirror adjustment arm a half inch longer. You would think that, since they did that, they would have at least made the power mirror sail completely flush. So far, so good. Pics coming soon. I'll take suggestions as they progress if any are given. Once again, thanks for all the comments.

Haha I hear ya on throwing them in the trash. I've had many other sorts of projects go in old file 13 over the years. I am going to have to go get another passenger side sail for the new set I am making. I am using a driver side with power mirrors. I have to cut it up to make it flat and I am going to cut a filler piece out of a passenger side. I figure it's a heck of a lot easier than wasting additional time and materials to get things fairly even before making them into pods. I have the passenger cup installed into the sail. The back sits flush, the front sticks out about 1/3" and they are angled upward a bit more. Once I start filling in the driver side, I will start posting pics.
