My 03 now has 87K miles on it and driving it through the pot hole ridden streets of boston everyday has taken it's toll on the dash. Every bump I hit the dash shakes.
Has anyone ever taken it apart, tighen everything up under it and put it back together? Results?
Thanks.
yes I would also like to know, so dang squeaky.... what can be done? I am in the same sitiuation, I have had the dash apart for weight reduciton and am getting ready to take it apart again what are some key areas to focus on to make the noise stop?
Put rubber grommets between the dash and the car at every place there is a bolt. If that isnt enough, just turn up the radio.
Oddly enough, I've had my dash apart about a dozen times and broken a few clips here and there, and I swear it's actually gotten quieter over time. Maybe there's something to be said for letting it loosen up.
Seriously though, a bit of rubber or foam around all the main contact points would probably do wonders. I added some extra pieces of peel-and-stick hood liner foam I had left over from my recent sound deadening project, and I think it helps the dash float rather than chafe and squeak.
