I was recently given a Pioneer cd player, and I am thinking about installing it in my '00 Cavalier. How do I go about taking the plastic piece off of the dash that surrounds the gauge cluster, radio, and HVAC controls? I'm thinking about painting it at the same time so I really want to avoid breaking anything. Also, where can I buy a Carbon fiber HVAC cover as well as other uncommon carbon fiber interior (well, and some exterior) parts?
first the cover comes off held in by like 8 screws located at each end of dash behind end caps some under the defrost vent and in the glove box also two holding it down around air bag look in glove box u see a opening with gold srews. when this is off ull see the 3-4 holding the besal on and the bottoms is clipped in. rather easy
now, where do I find the Carbon Fiber HVAC cover? Anyone selling them on here? Also looking for Carbon HVAC knobs, dash vent pieces, cluster overlay, dash coverlay (somebody should make one...), interior door handles, auto trans shifter trim ring, A pillar, door thresholds, and glovebox door? Anyone up for a carbon fiber project? With the Dash coverlay I bet somebody could make a killing on those, maybe $100 a pop?
youre expecting to get a full c/f dash for $100....?

you're looking at close to $100 for materials alone. Add labor......alot more than $100
no, I'm talking about the peice that is always broken, the curved one immediately behind the windshield. There are replacement plastic ones that cover up the broken ones that are about $100 I've seen, so why not have a carbon fiber alternative for the same price? Yeah I realize carbon fiber is expensive but at $100 you'd sell enough to J Body owners to more than profit. Its just me, if I were making them that is probably all I would charge, maybe $120 at the most. I make things because I enjoy it, not to make a huge profit. Other people are different....
ok, same logic still applies. if the stock replacement is made of plastic and costs $100, what would make you think that same piece in cf would only cost an extra $20? again, im fairly positive materials to wrap that piece cost more than $20. not to mention labor. i dont know about you, but I dont do free work, and nor do many others.
if it were me, a rough cost i would charge would be $200....and considering materials and labor, i'd probably be making a whopping $10 profit, if profit at all.
well, I've never done any carbon fiber work, I don't know how much materials cost, so MY BAD damn, lol. Its still a part someone should make. Any takers?
i believe winks worked on a mold back in the day, but it was scrapped. i cant imagine anyone will be working on another one any time soon
well, lol in that case I'm still looking for a carbon fiber HVAC cover.
hvac cover, or the radio/hvac bezel? similar names but totally different pieces.
the one that goes around the gauges and hvac and radio---no one makes and you cant really hand wrap it.
the hvac cover is easy to make and cheap enough...
