Bulb guide for LED's

Well I just have found that you can't find all of these together in a post on the site. I found these before I'm about to order some 5 way LED's for my car, and I thought that someone eles might enjoy only to have to look one thing up instead.. I've had them in my Fire, but not in the Cavy's yet.

Map Lights - 161
HVAC Lights - 74
Dome Lights - 906
License Plate - 194

Auto Meter guages - 161

Also I might add that I've always used SuperBrightLEDs.com

The 194 WLED-x5 LED Wedge Base Bulbs on this page...

http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html

...are what I used in my cluster, glovebox, dome light and trunk light. They work quite well for each application.

If I could ever get my ashtray out, I could figure out which one it is but I'm guessing 74.

194 is the same as a 161. also, a 921 is the same as a 906.

WAY brighter than the 5 ways...

these offer a 360 Degree Beam Pattern also.

Actually I do have that same problem. The LED's stay very very dim when the lights should be off, and then they get bright they way they are supposed to when you turn them on...

I haven't ran into any issues with them doing this yet ( as in draining my battery )...

Sounds like there is a small leakage current still present when the lights are "off". LED's use very little current so if there is some coming through it may remain faintly lit. Try putting a small resistance inline with it to further reduce the current going to the light. Hopefully it won't reduce the full on brightness much. If you have a multimeter, try putting it in current mode and check in series with the led when the lights are "off" and you will get a milliamp reading. Then check the resistance of the LED as i believe the auto ones tend to have resistors built in. Then look up the datasheet for the resistor and check the threshold current and calculate the value of resistance to lower you below that threshold. install the appropriate resistor and you shouldn't have any more dim lights when they are supposed to be off and you probably won't overshoot the resistance value and end up lowering your full-on brightness.

Does anyone know the source of this leakage current? are the interior lighting circuits transistor driven by the computer or something and allowing a slight leak?

Little late on this one but...
I have night lights on my aquarium and I've noticed if I pull the transformer out of the socket the light will continue glowing for several hours, but if I pull the connector apart that runs inline between the transformer and the lighting it will go out very quickly. So, while I'm not an expert (at all) on electronics, I believe what ever electricity is left in the circuitry slowly drains out through the LED; and is NOT draining the battery what-so-ever.

Curious, I wanted to replace my dome with LEDs and is the "off" glow noticeable outside of the car, or does it cast much glow while driving to make you look up to be like "WTF?!?!"

The fishtank light is strange :S Perhaps by unplugging the primary side of the transformer you are still leaving the secondary connected as a circuit with an inductor. Since the inductor is charged, the breakdown of it's flux could induce a voltage across the light and keep it lit, but for it to stay lit for hours is interesting.

^ So to charge the flux capacitor you must reach 81 MPH, In a cavalier. And this should send you back in time. lol
But yeah, I guess that's the smart way of saying it.

I have a LED dome light that has 16 superflux LED's in it. 4 of them stay on a little as mentioned when the car light goes off, but the "glow" that remains is in no way that noticeable. I can try to get some pictures tomorrow night if you would like.

I can also get you some pictures of my car with the dome light only on. Its very bright even being red. I got mine from oznium.com

Goes right in. Pull the bulb out and put the led in. Although depending if they are polarized or not, you might have to flip them. So if your led doesn't turn on after you put it in, take it out, spin it 180 and put it back in and it should work.
