'05 Cav dash craked in the center up close to windshield. Is this common?
p.s. factory '05, no mods.

I have an '00 Z24 that I've been looking for a nice replacement piece for, since mine is broken in 3 places. How easy are they to remove, and does anyone here have a good one at a fair price? I'm referring to the exact same piece as above, the curved 1pc dash trim that is immediately behind the windshield. I've had 2 other Cavys and they were broken as well, all that I've seen in local scrap yards were broken too, so I'm assuming this is a pretty common thing.
Here's the thing about that....it's all one piece, and the dash pad, trim bezel, glove box lid, stereo, hvac (plumbing included), pass air bag, and gauge cluster all bolt to it. I'm on the hunt for a replacement myself....checked car-part.com, didn't find much and through GM parts direct they run $200 new, wether you want neutral/tan, or graphite. I don't like the idea of spending $125 on that Coverlay cover panel, I personally would rather go new. But to each his own. That's my 2 cents worth on that topic.
Project Resurrection is in full swing!

no its part of the lower dash not the whole dash. the dash pad, radio bezel, pass air bag, gauge cluster, etc... are all seperately. the lower portion of the dash is what its all connected to. if you dont want to spend money on a coerlay thats fine but its the best option unless you want to go to a yard and pull the whole lower dash or pay 400 bucks to get it from gm

best option. good fitment and looks stock.

yeah.. cheapest one I found on ebay doing a quick search was $113, brand new cover, not a direct replacement. Seems like the best option, I'll be getting one. Thanks for telling me about the coverlay.
it may seem like a lot but if you think about it just slips right on. would you rather spend the money on a cover lay or say going to a junkyard and spending i dunno maybe an hour tearing out this dash, transporting it home then tearing out your dash to replace it with the other one? not to mention the possibility of having it crack again.
i just yanked mine out today... imma use a 2 part epoxy called plastic weld to fix the crack
COVERLAY IS THE WAY TO GO....
my 03' dash just cracked...thought I was going to be lucky and get one of the few that would not crack...oh well.
yeah thanks alot everyone i have had my cavy for over 3 years now and everyone is talking about that piece cracking i figured hell i'll be ok and then bam mines cracked right in the middle too. damn

it is NOT a possibility ....it WILL crack again...and probably worse than the first time.....then he can pull it allllll back out again and go buy another one instead of supporting the ONLY company that has made a GREAT cover for out dash and looks absolutely stock.....
125 bucks for a part that just snaps on and NEVER cracks again with lifetime warranty ?????!!!! WHY THE HELL WOULDNT YOU GET IT??!!!
