I'm an idiot and cut holes in my rear deck for some speakers..Now I'm not really into them, Can I put some cardboard over the whole thing, and re cover it with some black carpet or some fabric? What have you guys done?

It's not difficult to recover. It's MOSTLY a flat surface, with some easy corners. Get some fabric, get some spray-on adhesive, and have at it.

Won't take you more than 15 minutes to do a quality job if you know what you're doing.
