What do you use to clean your windows? Reason I ask is my 01 z24 gets this film on the inside windows. I can clean them and within a week it is back (sometimes sooner). My car does not get driven daily, so it usually sits. I have tried different cleaners, and using newspaper, to paper towels, and rags to clean them with. Someone recently told me to use a rubbing compound. Never heard of this, but might try. Any other ideas? I just do not want to have to clean my windows on the inside every week.

do you smoke inside the car? That could be a cause of the film. But anyway I use Stoner's Invisible Glass Wipes. They work awesome. Comes in spray cans and bottles also.

No I don't (don't smok at all). I do not allow people to smoke in the car either.

Try vinegar and water....
you may try steel wool also. it might take off whatever is causing the film (and no it does not scratch the glass)

I was just going to say that.... I used to use the GM brand window cleaner/tried a million others... all of them you had to clean the window.... and then get another cloth / peice of newspaper to clean off the film that was left over... which is especially annoying when cleanign the front and rear windows...... tried stoner's and will never use anything but stoner's now.... after a wash I usually clean both inside and outside the windows with stoner's... and then the mirrors.... oh and it does not harm tint at all.. but is strong enough to take off any type of adhesive you may have gotten on your window...
I have used Stoner's and like it, but still have the same issue. I have also used the GM foam cleaner (really liked it). I think I'm going to try the vinegar and water, and maybe also rubbing compound. If nothing else works then steel wool maybe. Thanks and any other suggestions please post them.

that's really weird... the most I would have to clean my windows is once i nthe summer when the a/c circulates... and once in the winter when the heater kicks up to much @!#$....... my family has 4 j-bodies... none of them have this problem..... you might want to try that rain-x interior stuff...
if the invisable glass dosent takecare o it id say you hae an issue my g/f's dad smokes liek a freight train i took my free can of it went over it a couple times with newspaper and voala clear as day.
I use Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner and it does a great job. It can be anoying sometimes when it's really hot or humid out, but other than that it's great. Use one microfibre cloth to put it on, and then a second more plush microfibre to take it off. The rear window is always a bastard to do, but at this point you might as well try everything so you don't have to keep cleaning it.
I don't know what could be causing the film on the inside of the windows. If it were the outside, I'd suggest Rain-X to help clean the window, but since it isn't I have no idea. Is there something in the car, like an air freshener that releases stuff into the air? Or are your carpets wet at all when it's sitting? (Probably very unlikely as this would just fog the windows up after, say, shampooing the interior)
By the way, I work for a company detailing cars during the summer. HaHa.
Well today I used some cleaner wax and cleaned my windows (inside and out). First let me say this makes cleaning windows sooo much easier!!! WOW!!!!! I love it. Of course I do not know if this has solved my issue yet. I will see in a week.
I do not have any kind of air freshener in the car. The only thing I could think of is the leather back seats, but still not sure.

Waxing windows is basically the same thing Rain-X does. If you drive the car in the rain now, you shouldn't need your wipers if you drive fast enough. HaHa. Also, since you did the inside of the windows, you can throw a double-double at them and watch it bead like mad. Though this would probably be a bad idea...HaHa.
I know it may seem silly, but rubbing alcohol has worked great for me. As far as protecting it from getting the film back, I dont know, but I did have a film on the outside of my windshield, and it took it off and has never came back.
98z24, lowered 2", aem intake, cat-back striaght pipes!, cop lighs in the front and rear lights, 18" liquid metal's, primer black, tint, full audio and video.
I would get some Stoners Invisible Glass, spray a good amount on the window. Then take steel wool and scrub down the whole window ( this is to get the dirt loose and cleaned off ) and wipe off. Then spray the Invisible Glass again and wipe down wither either newspaper or a microfiber cloth.
That's probably the best way to clean a window, so it might help in your situation...
Update:
I used the cleaner wax a little over a week ago. So far looks really good. I think I will do it again because I have a couple spots, but nothing like it was.

I was told for outside car windows that are gummed up and a regular wash will not take off this crap then use a SOS pad, never tried this my self yet, but will be real soon, and my windows have tons of spots that will not come off, as if its baked in the glass; my rood is the same way and i tried cleaner wax and it did nothing for me

My problem was on the inside, but I went ahead and did the outside for the heck of it. I just got home from driving in the rain, so nice!!

Liquid. I put it on all my windows (at the same time), so by the time I got down putting it on the last window I started taking it off the first one.

Ok i had the same problem on my rear window, the inside. I figured out what my problem was and this may be the same issue your having. The rear dash, i had wrapped it in vinyl and always used armorall to clean it and keep it nice and shiny plus protect it from fading in the sun. Well when it was hot out the sun would heat it up and the armorall would heat up on the vinyl causing my rear window to get that film. It never did it before i started using armorall on the rear deck. I then decided to re wrap it in a carpet and remove the vinyl. Never had the problem since.
Same goes for my from window as well time to time because i use armorall on the dash.
This is my 2 cents on what i believe the problem could be.

My rear deck is carpet. I use to always use Armoral (but I did also on my 97 Z24, and never had that issue). My girls Saturn we use it and no issues. I have stopped using it and just wiping the dash off with a clean rag instead.

Armorall and certain other things will cause a haze on windows. I have a friend that has the same problem with his 64 Fairlane. He can clean the windows and within a few days there will be a bad haze on them again. That and we have the same issue in the shop where I work. I can clean the garage door windows and within a week or two they will have a weird haze on them again. I could understand if it was just dust and dirt, but this is something totally different. I'll tell my buddy to try the cleaner wax on his tho.
