I was installing my B&M Short shifter on my shifter for my sedan when I get the swap completed, and noticed that its missing an essential part. Not really sure if its essential or not, but according to the GM service manual it is required for shifter cable adjustment.
In this picture, 9 o'clock from the shifter itself, there is a metal U-clip. Does anyone have a parts car, or an extra shifter assembly with this part they would be willing to let go? I cannot just get this part from GM, tried today and I really don't want to pay $112 for a new shifter when I still need $411 in parts from GM alone. My assembly only has 12K miles on it and shifts perfectly. I don't want to just junk it.
Can anyone help? I'd be willing to make it worth someones while.
I plan on going to a 'yard sometime this week, tomorrow or wednesday. Ill PM you if I get a chance to go.
You just need the U-Clip?
Yes. Just that little U-clip. I got everything else, I am going to be calling up my local yards since I still need a plastic gas tank and sending unit n such.
I'll keep an eye out too Cody.
is this something that could be made by chance??

Yeah. Take a nail maybe bend it and then cut the flat head off.

I was thinking that actually.... I might just pull the one out of my sunfire and take some measurements Or hell, i think the electrical wire nail staples I was using the other day at the shop when I was wiring and sheet rocking the bathroom might even work. Just trim the points off.
Ok, this post is irrelevant. That little u clip locks into the shifter to lock it in dead center neutral. On the B&M shifter, there are no holes drilled to lock it in place, So i'm not even going to bother making anything. Phew....
Also discovered something else about these shifter assemblys. Under the side to side pivot pin there a wheel in which rolls along a c-curve and Mine was cluttered with crap and goo and caked on junk. I tore the whole thing apart cleaned it, and damn... what a difference. I'll post pics down the road.
Glad to hear you got it worked out...

That does not make sense. I know mine is locked in using that clip.

How so? here are some photos to back up my findings....
Pin holes through base
cup
and the 2 shifters side by side...
I don't see how you lock the shifter in place to keep it in dead neutral while adjusting cables since there are not 2 holes in the B&M.
