alright heres the story i was sitting in traffic and the next thing i know my check gauges comes on and the theft alert abs and my fuel gauge dropped the temp gauge did also and they come back on every now and then and then go back off, what could be a cause of this a bad ground somewhere behind the dash? has anyone had this happen? i dont want to turn my car into the dealer cause my cousin had this happen and his car was gone for weeks at a time. if its possible i would rather fix it my self. anybody know as to what might be going on?
oh and also this may sound dumb but i had a new pcm put in the car for the supercharger reflash people keep telling me this could have something to do with my cluster problem. seems unlikely to me but i thought i would ask to be safe
check your charging circut...usually when the gauges go weird your low on battery power.
i ran a full system test on the battery and charging system everything was find still holding 700 cca alternator has enough voltage. everything was fine. idk where to start i had a check engine light after i got the reflash and it was a ckp not relearned i figured they forgot to clear that but i checked yesterday on the modis and it turns out i have the whole list and work that i list tomorrow
This happened to my moms car... 97 cavalier...
Battery lost charge
showed coolant sensor error so we changed the sensor and put more dex cool and it is fine now.

i guess no one has any idea as to whats going on with my car?
Well, I know from recent experience that the CKP relearn code specifically needs special action to clear. You need HPT or a Tech II (or another capable high-end scanner) to run that relearn procedure. Unless this is done, trying to clear the code will only cause it to re-occur immediately.
The more pressing problem seems to be that you have some sort of underlying electrical or connectivity problem, and without getting to the bottom of that you might just have these problems keep happening. The only thing that I can suggest would be a possible bad or intermittent ground someplace, as you already suspected.

yes i read something about the tech II on our computer system at work the closest thing i have to any of that is a Modis, even thats no use cause when i try to do the ckp relearn on there it wont communicate. However im more concerned about the gauges and all the other warning lights that pop up its the biggest pain trying to find all of the grounds. would the best way to solve this issue be to take the dash apart and check for bad grounds there?
hey one last question does anyone know if a bad instrument cluster could cause random dtc's to come up? one of the codes i got was a U1096 which is loss of IPC which im assuming means the instrument cluster..anyone have any idea?
