Door Panels

Hey I finally acquired a set of door panels to work on so I don't ruin mine. I've read through the DIY/how to's on this board and searched through some things on them. But there's only really one answer in those that says just pry and cut. I know a bunch of you on here have changed 'em, I'm more so lookin for your answers as to how you got the arm rests off and what you used to fasten 'em back on after you recovered 'em ?

the little melted plastic bits you can drill the centres out with a drill then just break the remaining part of the tab off.

if you're fiberlgassing them its probably easy enough to use resin or hot melt glue to reattach everything.

i was thinkin of getting one of those "plastic welders" from harbor freight to do mine. i think it basically works like a hot glue gun but holds stronger

heat gun. just heat up the tabs as they start to melt pull the panel away then when your done wrapping it push the pieces back together and then just remelt the plastic, ive seperatated a cavalier door in two and put it back together that way. only thing to look out for is to not get it so hot that you melt the whole area. but if your prying it as you heat it there should be any worries.

I didnt take mine apart to recover them. cut the material about 1/2" bigger than the area, spray the glue on the door panel insert. then i used a bondo sqeegee to tuck the material in.
