I dont feel like buying one of the tools to remove the window crank to take off the door panel, so what are the other ways of removing it? I thought I read something about removing it without one, but i forget.
hit me up.
i got one clip off once using a rag pulling it tight between the handle and panel and pulled up and the clip popped off but you can get the tool at like pepboys for 5 bucks.

i HATE that clip so much! i have had the hardest time removing those @!#$s. so if you dont want to fork over the few bucks for one, do yourself a favor and dont reinstall the clip when you put the crank back on (unless it was easy for you or you dont plan on ever removing it again)
but like people have said, you need to somehow "floss" a rag or towel in between the crank and panel and pray that it pops out quickly and easily.
I have always used 2 small screwdrivers to "push" the clip off. It wasnt that hard, just took me about a while.

its really simple without the tool also. have your window crank facing up and pull back on it. you'll be able to see the ends of the clip. push 1 side off then push the other off. its pretty simple
if you are to cheap to buy the tool.....borrow it from a freind. it really makes it easier, although it is not that complicated.
I wasted the better part of a day working on one door without the tool before the clip ricocheted off my forehead and led me on a further half hour search to find it back. I followed all the helpful hints, and it just wasn't happening.
I overpaid some $8 for the tool (Canadian Tire), and it was still the best investment I'd made recently. I just wanted the first part of my weekend back.

ok. is the "clip" that black circular piece behind the crank?
no that black thing is not the clip, thats just a piece to cover any part of the hole that might remain visible once the handle is in place, the clip is metal and it joins the crank to the crank arm and can clearly be seen in this image.

The fork worked great for me. after about 20 minutes of trying the rag method, lol, I went to the fork and had it off in like one minute.
you can use a pick tool. like a 90 degree hook will work fine.

yeah I say just go to advanced and get the tool, I paid like $4 for mine and it's a very handy tool, and when you put your handles back on, and you don't want to put the clip back in, (incase you launch one across the yard like I did), just wrap the rod connected to the door in teflon tape and mash the window crank over that, so it won't fall off, and with a firm pull it comes off.

I had mine off about half a dozen times while installing my components, and had no problem reinstalling with the clips. I just placed the clip back on the crank, put the crank over the shaft, and gave it a solid backhand. With a satisfying "click", that thing wasn't going anywhere.

i did it the first time with a rag. now i use a cat claw. takes me 2 seconds. after you do it once you will see how it goes on, makes it 10x easier to figure out how to do it.
