Hey, so I initially installed my Pioneer 6x9s top mount into my rear deck. After much debate, I have decided to remove the 6x9s completely or POSSIBLY put some midbass woofers in there just for rear fill, not quite sure. What I am sure of, is that I need a new rear deck pad/carpet thing. I immediately removed the child safety restraint clips and am planning on taking out my 4th brake light. What I want to know is, which years of the cavalier don't have the child safety restraints, don't have the 4th brake light, and would fit in my '03 cav? Any help or suggestions in this project of mine would be greatly appreciated!

So which models & years should I be searching for? Also, why do I have 4 brake lights, isn't that a bit of overkill?
Do I just search for '95-99's?
I would think you would want to search for a 95-99 WITH a spoiler.
This way, the 3rd brake light comes on the spoiler, not on the rear deck.
My '03 has a spoiler and a 4th brake light inside the rear window on the rear deck. Is that just something they did with the 00+ models?

Probably means that spoiler was an afterthought. Some of the Sedans used a Sunfire spoiler on the trunk, and I think it was dealer installed.

For your 03 you need the deck out of an 03-05 car with or without a 3rd brake light in the rear deck. 03-05s have an additional clip in the deck for a child seat, which I don't think came on 95-02.

actually they were S10 Extreme stripes. It was GM getting rid of left over stock basically.

So I finally had time to go to a local junkyard and found, what I thought, was the right part. It was from a 95-99 cavy without a spoiler. I figured I would just keep my third brake light and everything would be sweet. Unfortunately, I didn't know that third brake lights in the 95-99 cavaliers are different from the third brake lights in the 2000+ cavs. Needless to say, I sat there for like 5 minutes pushing on the darn thing before it finally dawned on me that it wasn't going to fit. So, essentially, I NEED a rear deck that is from a 95-99 cav that HAS a spoiler. Does anyone have one of these? I have searched through all the local junkyards and found nothing...all are without spoilers or the wrong color.
That is a pretty good idea. Would the other 3rd brake light housing match up to my window and the mounting holes?
Okay, so yesterday I made another 1 1/2 round trip the the junkyard, picked up the 3rd brake light housing from the car I took the rear package tray from. Turns out, it doesn't match up. The angles are different so it doesn't even fit into the mounting holes because it hits the rear glass. At this point, I am ready to lay down some cash and just buy a rear package tray that doesn't have the child safety restraints and does NOT have a third brake light. Does anyone know of a website that sells them new or somewhere, other than a junkyard, that I can get them? Would a dealer have them?
The third brake light doesn't line up because you have to make sure if you get a rear deck w/ a brake light from a 4 door, it's going into a 4 door, same with coupes. The rear windows have different curves, because the rooflines are different.
There will always be someone faster than you, but thousands slower and dumber than you.
Yeah, I figured that out after the fact.
