Not hard at all. Use a hacksaw to cut the shifter down, just be careful not to cut through the yellow "stick" in the middle.

this is the first one i found... just ignore the stuff about cutting the bottom and welding it.... the stuff your looking for is a little further down

Look about three quarters down the page. Cut the outer pipe with a pipe cutter being careful not to cut the yellow rod. Thread the outer pipe to match the T-Handle. Drill the T-Handle for the yellow rod. Install T-Handle. Trim rod to your liking. Done.

If you want to reinstall the stock T-Handle, cut the outer pipe to length leaving the yellow rod. Use a grinding wheel to cut two slots in either side of the outer pipe for the stock clip. Trim the rod to activate with the stock button. Install T-Handle and clip. Done.
