Which is the best one to get as a replacement? Auto parts store? Or just stick with GM?
How much do they go for?
Gm part #?
Thanks
parts store LLT warranty and price FTW, I have purchased 2 from Advance and 1 from Autozone so I always have an extra and can return a bad motor just aboot anywhere.

where at? ^
can you just replace the motor, or do you 'have to' replace the whole assembly?
thanks
Good question, as my Zs driver side window always needs help rolling back up.
Anyone have a preference to a brand and instructions on how to complete this process?
I've had to buy 3 of them, I cant believe the BS of having to constantly replace this damn part. Price wise your looking at more than $40 if you ask me, i bought mine at a local parts store. It's a pain in the ass to install too. You have to drill out all the rivets, and since I dont' have a rivet gun, we just used nuts and bolts to replace the rivets. I'm nowhere near a mechanic but my experiences have not been fun reinstalling them.
i just did mine this weekend. went fine except for a few hickups:
- snapped a drill bit trying to drill out the larger rivets with too small of a drill bit. i had the drill bit angled and it didnt like that.
- one of the bolts to replace the rivets that holds the regulator unit to the door was a pain to put in.
- dropped a bolt onto the gearing for the regulator/motor area. this stopped the window from rolling up all the way.
i eventually got the last of the 4 bolts in to hold the regulator to the door, and that bolt in the gears was from trying to get that last bolt in there. i got the bolt out from the gears with a magnetic pick up tool so i didnt have to take the door cover off again.
i used a 3/16" drill bit on the smaller rivets and a 7/8" drill bit on the larger rivets. the motor came with the new bolts to hold the motor to the regulator (4 nuts/bolts, only needed 3). i purchased 1/4-20 bolts and 1/4" ny-lock (pozi-lock) nuts so i didnt need lock nuts either (qty 4). there are 2 rivets near the electrical connection for the motor that get drilled out too. i used the extra nut bolt that cam with the motor unit to replace one of those rivets. i havent replaced the other one yet, but i did buy the nut, bolt, and lock washer. the motor doesnt seem to need it though as it sits pretty damn sturdy in the door with only that one by the electrical connection.

I removed my power windows entirely after they failed for a second time and went with cranks out of the local junkyard. All the holes and everything for installing them are already in the door, even if it originally came with power windows. Drilling out the rivets is a pain, I broke a drill bit as well.
