I want to convert my manual windows to power windows and I found this nice conversion kit on ebay to do the job. Its like $80, and then like $20 for shipping. I was wondering if $100 is a fair price, or if there is a cheaper way to do it. I find it weird the my electric doors cost me $15, but electric windows will cost like 6x that.
Thanks!
universal kits = bad. buy a set of actual power window motors/regulators for a J-body, they will fit like they should be there (because, uh, they should). And use a stock switch. It may cost a little more (OK, about $200, or double what the kit costs) but it's well worth it if for no reason other than parts availability. You can walk into any auto parts store, ask for a window motor for a Sunfire, and bolt it in, should you ever need to replace one. And the switch is the same way, go to a junk yard (or eBay) and pick one up for $15 - $20.
I found a set of Window Motor/regulator for my car for $70 a side w/o the switches. So it would cost $140 + $switches.
However, I do have 1 more question. Is there a wire harness I need also, or can I do without?
Oh ya, I was also wondering, if I chage the regulator, could that potentially fix any tracking problems I am currently having with my passenger window?
i actually just put a SPAL window conversion kit into my sunfire, was a little pricey ($315 CAN) but so far i've had no problems at all, i'm not sure why everyone puts down conversion kits but from my experiance there very easy to install and the do the job pretty well. my windows go up pretty quick and the motors have plenty of torque for when my window is frozen shut. not sure what kit your looking at on ebay but if it's a SPAL kit i'd say go for it.
Well I saw the SPAL kits, but I only see ones for a 4 door, so its basically a waste of money because I have a coupe. So I was looking at the other set...not many options on ebay.
I plan on getting everything from the junkyard to do mine.
