I have a big problem
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 6:32 PM
I bought three glow shift gauges a couple of months ago..."volt, oil pressure, and trans temp"
they are the tinted 7 color ones

I went to go and install them today and I was only able to get the volt gauge in ... because I did not buy the adapter for the oil and my trans temp. can not work with my standard transmission... has anyone had these problems?

and how can i make them work

also when I go to change the color on one of them the bottum just keeps on going in and i do not here it click ... so I do not know if the light changes or not because I have yet to connect it

I NEED HELP

have you tried using the search button? I'd try to help you more but i don't know what engine you have. You should be able to find the answers with a search. I have the same gauges and the buttons don't make much of a click or anything when they change colors.

oil pressure sender

Don't tap the pan!! The pan is low pressure an won't give you an accurate reading. Check out the link above and bring that post back from the dead if you still need more info.

I looked around a bit and didn't find anything for the trans temp question. My guess is that not many have put them on 5 speeds. Heat is less of a concern on them than an auto.

you need to slow down, stop buying crap and start learning about how engines work before trying to put stuff on em.

tap the pan? a trans temp gauge for a stick shift? wow... yea slow down man ur def moving way too fast.. need to do some research.

I honstly can think of a place to put a tranny temp sending unit on a manual transaxle.... you would want it to be down low but I don't know if there is enough clearance between to casing and the diff.

As far as the oil pressure sending unit goes.... I'm planning on putting mine where my stock oil pressure switch is and just bypassing the idiot light.

As for the color changin switch not clicking.... wait until you have power supplied to it and see what it does... it could make a difference.

im pretty sure a sandwich adapter wouldnt work on the eco... do you do ANY work on your own car? and even though this:

is at THE TOP OF THEIR PAGE for the adapters, you still can't find it. BUT, the link to weasel's thread will point you in the right direction. there should be several plugs in the back of the engine, and the one that appears to be the same size as your sender is the one you want. before you even go that far however, i would recommend you had a shop install your gauges as you obviously are not up to the task.
