I wanna swap my dash as the title says with 04 cavy...what all is involved, and if anyone has direction/tutorials help would be greatly appreciated...i hvae the donor car, that will be recieving my sunny interior aswell, my and a firend wanna swap..
You have to swap EVERYTHING. Including the metal support frame under the dash. And on the doors you need to swap the bracket that the door screws to. It took me 7 hours to do my swap by myself.
so we have to swap the hinges as well? thats odd they should be the same...

no, hinges are the same...i think he means the metal brackets that attach to the metal inside skin of the door that the handles that are exposed bolt to....if that made sense
so basically swap handles too
?
You'll see the bracket when you pull the door panel off. There riveted to the actual metal door. I didn realize this when I got my SF interior from the junk yard. OOPS LOL
so what did u do....jsut put it back in with bolts or what?
Yeah i ended up just bolting them in. I bought a rivet gun for the bigger rivets but it broke on the first one. LOL
is there no way to jsut modify them
Nope shaped completely different
Does anyone else have anymore input on this subject matter?
You need the metal brackets... if you don't swap them, you'll be pulling on just the door panel itself to close the door, and the plastic around the handle will crack from the stress. My driver's door panel currently suffers from this condition because I was too damn lazy to do it right the first time.
Your friend is going to have to remove them anyway to install the Cav door panels... what's the issue here?
...j
u mean the bracket that the handles screws too? the handle used to pull the door closed? or the handle to open the door?
It's a metal bracket that is riveted to the inside of the door... the door panel attaches to it with two screws. You'll see it when you get the door panels off.
i assume its the shiny piece on drivers side just above the headrest you guys are talkin about?
ahh yes indeed i will have to look at that...metal fab is not hard for me though..so will take a look and see what needs to be done.
the steering wheels can stay the same right?
ya, that wont be an issue

Yup.. in fact, they'll HAVE to stay the same... because the splines are different between 95-02 and 03-05..
good news, but his car is an 04 aswell...i jsut noticed the error in the title
so all in all it sounds not to complicated just time consuming?
