This may be a really dumb question but I have a 01 Sunfire GT that is fully fully loaded... but I cannot find a trunk release button inside the vehicle...... my sisters 02 cav that is bare bones has one same with my parents 04 sunfire.... did the 01's have a trunk release button inside?

there isn't one... my 2000 Sunfire GT didn't have one either. if you have key less entry with the trunk release on it you can add a release button. find the wire that goes to the release in the trunk (mine was a black w/ white stripe i think). Splice a wire into it and run it to a momentary switch. Run 12v into the switch.

They started putting the trunk popper button above the hood release in 2002. Before that there was a handle that popped the trunk on the left hand side of the driver's seat on the floor... and that was an option, which you couldn't have it if you had key less entry with the trunk popper button. So in other words.... 02+ had the power release button, and 95-01 had the pull cable system which was only available if you didn't have key less entry.

yeah i think it was really gay that the keyless entry cars didnt have an electric button somewhere... seems really cheap if you ask me.

GM was too cheap to run 3 ft of wire and install it in a 30 cent switch. I guess thats what we get for driving an econo box

i have an 00 4dr sunflower, and when i bought the car it did not have power locks, which means no keyless entry or a trunk relese cable. it dose however have the same assembly as the others, because i was looking into installing either an electric poper or just a manuel cable..
