Dash vibrating..... yes I searched

Hey yall, got a slight issue. I installed an rk lower mount and a TTR upper insert (looking to upgrade to the whole mount) in my 02 2200 cav and now I have a dash that shakes up and down when stopped. I searched as I am sure I am not the first this happened to, but I must be using the wrong terms or something to find it. What have people on here done to fix this issue?

That thread was for rattles and shakes.... my whole dash is going up and down not just rattling. Thanks though it was along the right lines

when somethings loose its going to move in the location that it is able to move wether it be up and down or left and right. do what i did, pull the panels, put a soft foam behind them and rescrew it down and you wont have any rattles or shakes, ive got the upper and lower mounts and i have no vibration or rattling issues.

headliner material works good, its nice and cusiony, easy to glue and cut and isnt to thick, just any plastic to plastic pieces you see touching, slide some material between them.

Nice idea, I will have to try that out in my spare time.

Alright, so if I just use sound-deadening materials then the vibes should go away once it is all installed and done? My first few thoughts on this are to use a dynamat type material, lay that on the firewall when the dash is completely removed and then installing the dash. Once the dahs is installed, put the HVAC tubing and such back in piece by piece while in between steps finding places to put something along the lines of headliner material between stuff (where to find this by the way..?) and then when it is all put back together the vibrations should be almost 100% gone correct?

Yeah it is when stopped and slowing down, goes away when I accelerate

I've got nearly the same set of mounts, and my whole steering wheel and column resonates while the car is idling. The dash also moves. The whole car vibrates, actually.

While I wish you luck with the whole padding thing, I'm going to say that there's a possibility that this is going to persist as long as the aftermarket mounts remain.

if you do it right it shouldnt. i did my dash like 4 years ago and just put the new mounts in with my eco swap and its still quiet.

Could be that the different engine has some part in that. I don't know if the 2.2 ohv could be giving me more vibes.

Well, to me more specific, *most* of the noise I get is from the steering wheel. There is a little bit of "play" in the tilt wheel assembly, and the whole wheel bucks up and down. Plastic rubbing is the least of my problems.

that sounds like you need to tighten down some bolts if your collumn is moving like that. might want to check into that soon.

Hey yall, I know I may get ragged for reviving this old thread, but I figured I would let yall know I found a solution that seems to be working rather well. I removed the entire dash, and took a 4 sq. ft. sheet of dynamat and starting cutting off pieces and sticking it to the metal piping that the dash bolts to. I placed some on the plastic dash itself, in places that would be prone to vibrate, and placed it (after piercing holes for the bolts) over every mounting point. Used all but a little piece of the mat, and so far under the worst conditions that caused horrible vibes before (in drive, at idle with A/C on) it doesn't do more than slight vibrating, and none of the up and down movement it was doing before. Hopefully anyone searching on this subject will find this useful. Thanx yall for the help and suggestions
