Putting sunfire interior parts into a cavalier
Thursday, March 13, 2008 8:10 AM
The Sunfire is a 95' my cavalier is a 98' both are coupes.

I know the dash will not fit into a cavalier, without modifications.

How about the other panels(doors, rear panels, ect)

Are the front seats and bench usable in a cavalier?

Also, if I pulled off the side skirts on the sunfire, can I use them on a cavalier?

And finally...

I know I've seen it before, but I'll ask it here anyway.
What is required to use a sunfire cluster in a cavalier?

1. the dash will fit fine you might have to use the framing bar that is behind the sunfire dash to work in your car
2. as long as you have the sunfire dash the door panels will fit, as for the rear ones they are different from sunfire to cavalier the sunfire ones have a different shape that goes around the quarter windows
3.seats are all the same as far as fitting goes
4. sideskirts fit fine on both cars
5. as long as you stay between 95-99 the clusters are interchangable its when you try to put a 2000+ in a 95-99 is when it wont work

Thanks.

So, is there anyway I could use those rear panels in my cav, or is it just not going to happen?

Just so everyone knows why I'm asking,
I found a wrecked 1995 sunfire with a black interior.
And the salvage yard said I could have the entire interior for $80
Plus the side skirts for $10 each.

I wanted to know if I could swap the entire interior of a sunfire into a cavalier.

ive done it... take out the dash frame... put sunfire one in...

but there is something your not thinking about.... the cluster youll have to rewire the fire cluster in.

and going by your years youve posted the clusters wont work. 95 is mechanical, 98 in digital. plus the gas gauge wont read correctly cause the sender ohm's changed in 98

and no rears will not work.

my cluster is mechanical I think, there isn't a single digital reading for anything. Millage and everything is on a roller thing

and yes i can confirm the gas sender ohmage.

i swapped a 96 fire dash in my 99 cav (when i had it) and bought a 98 digital cluster from a sunfire and the gas gauge always read empty...

but now that i think back on it, get a 95-97 cluster and rewire it in.... rewiring isnt fun and is very time consuming, plus alot of the wires are the same color, its tedious work... but possible.

it took me 6 months to finish mine (workng 2-3 days a week on it)

another thing your gonna need is the door panel handle brackets for the fire.

youll have to drill out your cav bracket and pop rivet the fire ones in place, if you dont the panel will not fit.

its alot of work

yeah I think I'm better off just to keep looking for a cavalier with a black(graphite?) interior.

so.. I guess the only thing I can use off the sunfire on my cav is the side skirts.
Man, I'm glad I asked before I bought all the parts lol

yeah... your better off with the graphite. i had the dash and panels, and got as far as putting the dash in when i decided to sell the car.

yeah so it seems. I guess I can still use the front seats and the rear bench out of the fire.
And the side skirts..

Speaking of skirts. How do you remove them?
Just carefully pull them off?

Close, but not exactly. 1995-1998 is analog (mechanical). Digital Odometer's did not start in the Cavalier until mid-year 1999.

err. yeah. We were BOTH mistaken. LOL

1995-1998 is mostly analog (mechanical). Digital Odometer's did not start in the Cavalier until mid-year 1998.

Mine is mechanical, & the Build Date is 1/98.
