if you dont remeve the vimal, you adding to the thickness... and may have fitment issues.... and i would assume that the glass would not stick to it.

strip the vinyl. its not that hard and itll make the glass stick better.

although, using a tshirt isnt exactly fiberglassing your dash anyway...

Best thing to do is to remove the vinyl. Drill holes and scuff up the plastic with 36/40 gritt sandpaper. then glass over that. It will help the glass bond to the plastic better.

If you leave the vinyl on, when you do your fiberglass work the added thickness won't allow for the dash to line up properly.

Make sure you use a cloth or mat with your resin. Don't just put 4 layers of resin on top of a t-shirt. That won't give it strength.

thanx guys. i think im gonna go to the junk yard and get a dash to glass instead of farkin mine up.
im still learning to work with glass and if i mess up one from the yard then oh well. if i mess mine up im screwed till i can afford a new one. should i use bondo or glazing putty, or both to finish it off?

yea get an extra dash pad if you can. as other have said, if you just throw on the resin without removing the vynal then the added thickness will not allow it to fit. once you peel the vynal off, drill lots of holes so the resin can seep through to the underside and cure to the bottom also. after you lay down say a layer of resin, put it back in place and let it cure. this way it will not warp on you.
