I was sitting around this weekend with a buddy who had been doing fiberglass work quite some time, and is very good at it. ( had worked for glasstek, and D&M correvette and hotrod for over 7years combined.) How many people have done a fiberglass replica of the factory headliner? I thought of getting one made and painting it to match the top half of the car when i do the red and black two tone on my 01. Does anybody have pics of a J?
i cant remember who did it but i remember someone did do a red fiberglass headliner before.
^^^ya, wasnt it ZeeTwankyFo's brother??
cant remember his name
its Nick Stanley “Z2FST4U” or sec-z
had to be a pain in the @ss to get in the car.

ya ive thught about dong this as well but i dont kno..
i would really like to have one, but i dont have the skills to make one and would be too much shipping have someone else make it for me since i'm in canada and most of you guys are in the US
god would i be interested in somehting like that. i would prefer carbon fiber but fiberglasswould be better than nothing
i f/g mine bout 2 yrs ago sorry i don't have any pics. it wasn't hard putting back in. just take out the front seats and carefully slide it in. easy with two people.
the beauty of it is you can just resin the cloth thats on there...and if you want lay a layer or 2 more on there after it dries..biggest thing is to go very very slow
LOL...everyone's talkin about Nick...
he lives in minneap...good buddy of mine....and let me tell you the headliner is sick as hell.
His brother's name is Nate...they're twins...his bro drives a 300 now
no one knows it...SHHHH, I didn't tell you
...but he f*cked the front bumper up DAMN good too...huge crack in the urithane on the bottom
Well I'm going to get the supplies and my friend is going to do mine in his spare time. I'll post pics when done.
i did mine after installing my rag top... If at all possible do it inside the car or have it secures so that the material does not flex..because its not plastic or anything firm when the resin cures it will twist
from what i remember from the post, they took it out and layed a layer of glass on it and put it back in the car to let it cure, this way it wouldnt warp. then they took it back out and finished it up and put it back in. they said it wasnt that hard to get back in from what i remember
Why not just start your own thread instead of bumping this 2 year old one?
Because it is good to recycle.
its an old concept. time for something new to take the reigns. - Z yaaaa
thats freakin awsome. good job.
thanks or the comments i will post more pics on the link as i go

What did you say? I must be hearing things.
....but anyhow, how would it look vs doing something like suede or fabric paints (i.e duplicolor)? I'm guessing it must take a lot of reinforcement since the liner is already fiber.
the work ive done is light and as far as support ima drill some holes throgh the liner and glass from the back to the top so the liner is sandwiched but the resin soaks into the stock fabric and makes it hard anyway and my headliner will be covered in stock like material when done but grey like the rest of interior lol........im going for o.e.m. appearing as i did with my rear side pods they match the seats and front door panels.
