Three Seater Sunfire
Friday, February 01, 2008 10:53 PM
Have already started on my rear seat delete to turn that all into a custom enclosure, like many have done.

And I had the idea today when I needed to transport a third person...what would be invloved in putting just one bucket seat in the back. Was thinking right in the middle but I think that hump would be an issue. So off the either side, anyone have any ideas or thoughts? This seat would probably match whatever seats I put up front. I'm assuming Iw ouldn't need sliders, And would I really need any brackets? I could probably take a stock bracket from up front and get it welded back there, couldn't i?

Thanks for your help..

just search for how ppl put two buckets in the back, and just ignore one of the seats. same process, just dont duplicate to both sides.

i think it would look very out of place if you only had one in the rear.....much less just on one side.

coming back in 2008...

Kind of an interesting idea, but I would put it in the middle. If you put one on the side, it will just look like you took one seat out to put a box in.
It might be a little higher, but just don't put one with a headrest in it.

yeah definatly center the seat if you do it, then put your audio equip. around it on either side.will look out of place otherwise

I too have thought of doing this, and in order for it to look even remotely decent and respectable it would have to be mounted in the center ignoring the sliders and welding the brackets directly to the floor. I think it would look best with a seat that matches whatever you have up front be that racing seats or a stock seat minus the headrest. Best of luck to you and let's see some pics when you have made some progress.

Yeah I was looking back there more today, Would definitely have to weld it straight into the floor. Lots of dynamat under there though, haha. On the upside, that may mean LESS fiberglass back there? haha.

Anyone have a link to the gullwing cavi?

Big plans for the '04 Fire.

you also have to remember there is a "hump" in the center of the rear bench which will push the seat up further.......and most likely hit/block the rear window.

ive only seen it done once where it didnt look bad IMO

yup. he lives in WI. the interior isn't too bad, but the exterior is a joke. the gull wings were rusting before the end of the first season. he was covering up the rust with whiteout. poor car. he said he was gonna redo the whole thing the right way, but i don't think he ever did.
