can any one tell me how to take out the whole shifter console including the "change tray" and cup holders and everything for painting. please help.!
Well, I have a 2000 cav, I am not sure what year you have as your profile is not filled out but this is how you get the 2000+ out.
1. In the front of the console in the storage area under the dash there is a small circular plug pop that out and there is a bolt under there (10mm I think, don't remember but all the bolts are the same size) take that out.
2. Take out the power window switch(or the little cubby thing) behind the shifter there is also a bolt inside there.
3.Open console storage area, remove crap from inside, there is 2 more bolts inside of this at the bottom.
4. If its a 5 speed unsnap boot and pull out console, not sure on the automatics how to get it over the shifter.
Its kind of akward to get out but it does come out. Also once it is out there is a few screws on the underside of it to seperate the console into 2 seperate pieces.
Hope that helps!
if it's auto, the shifter handle just has a clip, and it pops right off
post up your vehicle information so we can give some application specific info
coming back in 2008...
are they bolts or screws? screws from what i remember.

my carDomain updated 11/5/07 I've got premium. Yes I do. I've got premium. How 'bout you?
ive always used sockets to remove mine. it may be a screw up front but i know behind the shifter and in the console are 10mm bolts
I am pretty sure that they are all 10mm bolts holding it in, but there is screws that hold the 2 pieces together.
