custom tweeter pods

Well i decided to make custom tweeter pods on the covers that go over the side mirror bolts so here is what i did

ok here is a run down on what i did... The factory covers for the side mirror bolts are what i used and on the drivers side there was a dip in it for the mirror adjusters... so i filled them in i took body filler and added chop mat to make it stronger well once i let that dry i done miner sanding just to get the top smooth i wasnt super worried about it since it was not going to be seen..

Here you can see where i filled the dip, you can also see i took a paper towel roll and cut it where it would angle i then wrapped it around the tweeter and taped it i then wrapped the whole thing in alum. tape and i glued it in the position where i wanted the tweeter to sit..

Here i stretched polyester fabric over the piece tight and glued it in the back

Here i covered the polyester in resin

here i added some chop mat just to make it a little stronger

Here is where i started the sanding

and a little more sanding lol

then i used filler and sanded some more then some more lol

then of course came primer and paint

As you can see i still have wet sanding to do and and a good clear but they are about done

i still have alot of work to do on them yet but over all it wasnt bad for my first figerglass project

please let me know what you all think

i hate to dissapoint all you work but.... well there are alot of sunfires which got the Spots B2 Package as trim which put in factory made tweeter on the speaker covers, i will take a pic from my car and post it. This cover fits both the cav and sunfire. you can get it at any junkyard for like 10$.

though the spot you choose for the tweeter is cool as hell, and your work looks very nice good job! i will go get a pic for ya to see now

I guess i'm confused but i don't quite see what your point is... if i wanted it to look factory or have a factory look i wouldn't have went through the work of making one from scratch... the way i see it is, i have one i built myself and put it in a place i wanted it... i mean thank you for saying it looked good i just don't see your point in telling me all that... not only is Joey right and it is common knowledge but whats the point in building a custom car if the only options you look at are what the factory made for them??? because in the end it will just be a factory interior....

not to bad for your first attempt. looks like they are pointed down though from the pic. just never been a good spot musically to mount tweeters.

Sndsgood, thank you very much for the compliment... when you sit in the seat driver or passenger the tweets are aimed right at ya... to be honest i couldn't figure out any better of a place to put them and i got a wild hair and just done it i done it in a few hours let it harden over night and finished.... but i'm mad at myself i forgot about the screw holes so now i have to figure out a way that will make them look better

This is kinda off topic. I had a 99 chevy 1/2 ton ext cab with a full true 5.1 pioneer suround sound Couldnt decide were to place my tweeders so i hooked them up with a long speaker wire and started moving them around for the best sound. finally installed them in the front lower corner of the dash facing up. By doing this it used the windshield to reflect sound toward you for a high sound image. I could go into the rest of the system later if requested.
