OK.... I've been wanting to do the LED swap for my gauge cluster to make them blue.... but since I have a sunfire..... thats a problem....
I'm thinking of doing one of 2 things.....
#1... swapping to a Cavy Z24 cluster then changing the bulbs
#2.... just putting blue LED's in my sunfire cluster and just learning to be happy with purple (it would probably look cool.)
Are the Cavy and Sunfire gauge clusters just plug and play interchangeable, or do you have to change anything?
If I can't just pop one out and put the other one in and have it work.... I'm just going to but LED's in my stock cluster and see what it looks like...

95-99 cavaliers and sunfires clusters have different harnesses. you'll have to splice. plus i believe you'd have to cut some of your dash to get the other cluster to fit. if it was 00+ it would be a whole other story.

Thanx man...... I quess I'lll just try putting some really blue LED's in there and see how much of it shows through the red colored film then.
I quess I'll just have to settle for purple then.... I'm kinda wondering what shade it will come out looking like..... but I quess I'll find out..
On the bright side..... it will at least be different.
You could always have Black Cat Customs make a new face without the red tint.
I agree with Shadowfire, go see Black Cat. I was down to see him yesterday and you couldn't meet a nicer guy and his product is top notch!
^^^ ya... they seem to do good work... and if I ever get a coustom gauge face made...... that will most likely be where I have it done (althought it's kinda a long drive to "go see him")
The only reason I havn't contacted them already is because I'm trying to think of a cheap ass way to accomplish what I'm going for...
If I can find a-piller gauges with black faces that light up red.... I might just end up leaving the gauge cluster stock... it's not that imperative for me... I just really prefer blue but don't know if it's worth the cash to do it the correct (more expensive) way.

I wonder if you can get purple colored a-piller gauges.... hmmmmm.
i just did a mock up... with the HVAC overlay... with the bright blue leds, it showed through blue... not as bright tho... but blue nonetheless. Same with the gauges...except now i just traded for cavy
