I dont have any experience with anything like this but im looking to learn. I have an 03 cav, I painted most of my interior silver to match my cars paint, and i want some small carbon accents, like the plastic piece that holds the window switches, the armrest, maybe a few other things. Can anyone give me info on doing something like this? Would it be anything like fiberglassing? im totally in the dark about this lol

they make a carbon fiber contact paper you can get from advance or the zone
carbon isnt something you just jump into. i would try your hand at fiberglass first. if you cant get fiberglass down, you'll never learn carbon
my $0.02
im not an expert at glassing, but im not too shabby. my dad is really good at fiberglassing tho he used to build racecar bodies, so i have him to help lol. hopefully ill be able to get enough info and supplies by this weekend, ill post pics if it turns out decent

Well, i think i found some good how to's, and im fairly confident that ill be able to do it with no problem. Im gonna hit up a salvage yard and get spare pieces just in case i mess up. Apparently there is a worldwide CF shortage, many of the sites i have found that sell carbon materials have a big banner on the front page advertising this, and they are limited in quantities, so hopefully it wont be too hard to get some, ill try and order some cloth and resin tonight after work, hopefully ill be able to start working on it this weekend, ill take pics of the process and post in Photo's & Media

^ yup there is a c/f shortage...there has been for a while now.
did you find a supplier yet?
goodluck with it.
finding a supplier took me a while so good luck with it. the how-to i checked out before i tried it was the video select products made. my buddy found it for me on google, they had the entire hour+ of it. great stuff. for everyone saying how hard it is, or how if you can't do fiberglass don't try cf, don't listen to them. just gather as much info as you can about how to work with cf and give it a shot. worst that happens is you mess up, and if you're getting junkyard parts for just that purpose then you're really just out the money in materials and a little time. you'll never figure it out if you don't try it. best of luck to you with it. as you go you'll figure out some little things here and there to make working with it a LOT easier. i've only worked with it a little and i've learned a lot. so go for it man, and post up some pics as you go.
wasn't there someone that was covering items in CF as a little side business ? (BlueCav something or other ?)
i dont know wich weave i want to use, regular twill weave, or the 2x2 weave
